    Hello all,

I have used LG and Samsung phones mostly. Never a real smartphone either. My current phone is the Samsung Rogue and I love it. But I got a promotion at work and they want me to get a smartphone. They wanted me to switch to AT&T and get an iPhone and I said no thanks.

I am interested in the HTC Incredible. I do not like Blackberrys. I think the DroidX is too huge. I think the Samsung Android phones hare too huge as well, although what beautiful screens they have. I like the Droid2, but I think it is a bit bulky and fell the slider keyboard is junk.

So I started playing with the HTC Incredible and I like it a lot. I have read some reviews and was a bit concerned though.

Someone I read was complaining about the camera. I took a pic and it looked fine to me. I don't expect to be taking very worthy pictures with this, that is what a camera is for. Anyone find any major issues with the camera?

I also read something about call quality being quite poor. Is this true? Or perhaps was this somethign fixed in an update? It is after all a phone first for me.

Battery Life... Another downfall I have read about. In comparisons with other phones, I have read this one is dismal. If I can get a solid day out of heavy use, I am happy. Any truth to the appetite this phone has for energy?

Are there any other known issues that should keep me away from this phone? I text a ton. I will be getting Exchange Email sent to it. I love apps and hope to replce my iPod Touch as much as possible. I am not a novice user either. I have been in the IT business for years, run Ubuntu on an HP Mini, OS X on a Dell Mini, hacked firmware on my PSP, etc etc etc, you get the idea. I am not afraid of a little tweaking.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Problems with the camera? Never heard of that, mine takes better pictures than my digital camera.

As for signal/call quality, it really depends on your area. I haven't had any issues with mine, it works great.

As for battery, it depends how much you use it. Even with decent use I was still getting to the end of the day with the stock battery. The nice thing about it though if you feel the need for more juice, there are several different batteries that you can buy to suit your needs.

The incredible is hands down the best phone i've ever used, and i still believe its the best phone on the market today. The iphone is apple, and i hate using their products. The droid 2/x are good phones, but they seem like a tablet to me.

The incredible is perfect size, doesnt have a stupid slide out keyboard and its blazing fast. definitely get it, you won't be disappointed.

Yeah, the camera does its job as a medium-low lever point and shoot. I've gotten a whole days worth with somewhat heavy use with my $15 1500mAh battery and there's options to go bigger; though that might mean a bigger phone.

Never had experience with Exchange so I won't comment there. The games and apps are pretty good though they may be lacking in comparison to your iPod.

If you like tweeking, then you will like this phone. There seems to be a good amount of support behind it and the root stuff can be pretty nifty.

Hope that answers some of your questions.

The camera's fine. There are some things HTC could have done to make it better, but it's fine.

I've never had issues with the call quality. That was definitely something alot of people were complaining about over the summer, and aren't now. So I think it was fixed, but you'll probably want to hear from somebody who did have a problem...

The battery life isn't really that bad. It could be better, there are other high end android phones that have better battery lives. But I almost never need to charge it during the day (and honestly, even if I did need a charge to make it through a 12 hour work/school day, it's really not a big hassle for me. Just take the phone out and plug it into the computer/wall for 30minutes to hour.)

And there are MANY options for extended batteries. I use the HTC 1500 mAh Touch pro 2 battery from eBay ($12). But they have them up to 3x00 mAh (note:anything above 1750 needs a larger back cover). If that doesn't get you through the day, there is a serious problem.

No other known issues I'm aware of...

I agree with all of the above advice. It's a great device that will allow you to "tweak" until the cows come home. If you peruse this fine forum you will find many a message pertaining to problems with the Dinc. Don't be alarmed. People are prone to post more about problems than they are to rant and rave about the beauty of this phone. It's a solid phone and the best option out there at present IMO. Do it... you won't be sorry.

after reading the comments here yesterday, I went and got my HTC Incredible.

Two issues/complaints... First, the external speaker isn't the strongest but it does the job. Not a big deal.

Second, and what is a big deal, is I can't put this thing down! Wow, it is smooth, so much to customize, the interface is sweet, and the apps are amazing!

Internet is fast, all the apps run great, E-mail works great. It is taking me a while to get used to things, but considering how much there is new to get used to, I am not surprised.

I suspect I will be getting a larger battery, the largest I can get without case mods or different backs. I am all for getting the most you can. But I will wait on that.

The screen is amazing, no one has compained about the voice quality, it is so lightweight IMHO, and the size is perfect.

Thanks again! I look forward to sticking around and learning more.

Glad you went ahead and got it! It's a great phone! I got the 3500 mah Seidio battery (I need it - I'm constantly using my phone and don't want to cripple it by constantly watching wifi, brightness, regular instead of live wallpapers, less syncing, etc.) One battery though, that many are saying great things are the 1800 battery (Also some not so good things though). AND, it fits behind the regular back.

Also, if you haven't read about it already, make sure to "Bump Charge" the phone. Makes a HUGE difference

I didn't see that in the tipcs and tricks, but I will look it up. From an overnight charge, from 8AM to about 8PM I am down to 15% left. And that is fairly heavy usage for me.

Anyone have any recomendations for batteries to buy? Like someone they would recommend online or on eBay?

Do a search or check out the accessories section for the Incredible.

There are a bunch of battery threads with reviews and feedback.
