So, Sprint's stock price is fairly low right now (around the $3.70 range), and with the inevitable release of the Evo and the WiMax network this Summer, combined with their incredibly low package prices, they should rip quite a few customers from other networks.

So, I'm thinking, is this the time to invest in Sprint? Could the Evo and WiMax release spark the business and boost the stock performance? Part of me wants to believe that this is inevitable... the other part says, "don't bank on the success of one single phone."

    What say you?

It would depend on how many will be lured by the Evo and WiMax from other carriers. I think it's a fair assumption that if you price the Evo too high, that it wouldn't even matter.

Have you checked the stocks price history? I would go at least a 5 year history and adjust for inflation to know if this stock is holding value.

Not with news that iPhone is coming to Verizon.

Looks like Apple is going to steal the hype again this summer. Poor Sprint :(

Yeah, but let's see how Verizon does with the iPhone. After having a Samsung Moment with Android 1.5 (where CDMA was an afterthought, and has problems galore), how will Apple do in making the move to CDMA, with a device that's only known GSM for its entire existence?

    I'm taking a wait-and-see position.

I was thinking the same thing. It's probably worth throwing a few dollar at.

yea but it's the iPhone, apple geeks don't know the difference between GSM and CDMA and they will say "cool" the iPhone is on "my network now" and buy one regardless of any cdma bugs...

as far as sprint, after their buissness model announced today i'd say they are in good position to see stock rising for a period of time, don't know how long but i'd say its a good bet it'll go up, if i didn't have my limited money tied up into other investments and CD's and Stocks i'd probably buy a few shares for myself to see what happens

Sprint has just underperformed for so long... the stock is down in the 3.90 range (already $0.10 from yesterday, btw)... it doesnt have much further to fall. so, i dont think its an overly risky investment... if anything, it will just tie up some free capital, but i really dont see it as a risk to fall much further. their financials are a mess, but im looking to the future. if Sprint can grab a significant increase in customers w/ their new phones and worry-free guarantee, we could see a satisfactory ROI.

agree, i was tracking it today over a 2 year period and 2 years ago it was ~$10, i can only hope things turn around from here, i mean they really are turning around as a company, just look at what they are doing for their customers now, i can't wait to see how the stocks follow suit

I have stock in Verizon (shhh don't tell my dad, he works for AT&T, and don't tell my stepmom, she works for Sprint). Verizon pays a pretty good dividend right now at $.475/share/quarter compared to its price which is hovering at about $30/share. If you're looking for a mid-term dividend stock I'd go with VZ. If you're looking to gamble (not that I think there's anything wrong with that), I'd say go for a bunch of S. I'm avoiding T like the plague right now; it's only a matter of time before the iPhone isn't a T exclusive thing and I think it will hurt pretty badly when that happens.

For longer term investments I wouldn't go with any of these companies and would stick to a dividend champion or dividend aristocrat.

Actually i did invest in sprint. It was back in December when i first was hearing rumors of the supersonic and when i was firts getting interested in sprints 4G covgerage. I figured for now they have a monopoly on 4G and with this supersonic they could be someone to contend with. So i bought the stock at around $3.00 and now its over $4.00. I have 33 shares btw so i made about $35 dollars on a $100 dollar investment so far. I'm gonna stick with it and see how it goes

I invested in Sprint in March. I had a few hundred that I for once didnt' need for bills so I decided to put it in the market. I bought it at 3.60 a share and I think it will keep climbing. I am banking on a turn around, but we will have to see if it happens. If they have a few good q's we could be at the same price as Verizon or ATT.
