Root Time Without Signal 99%

Hey guys, I just recently got the LG Opitmus M, Great phone, Expect for one thing. I noticed battery was dying fast. I figured it was a app or something so I restored my app still had the same problem so I check Battery Usage, Cell Standby is always the highiest usually around 45% and Time without Signal is around 98-100% I live Florida around palm beach area, Any way to fix this?

Edit:Forgot to add I did Root the phone too with z4root 1.3

I managed to get it down to 62% which is still terrible, I just moved the phone and raised up near the ceiling when im not using it.........

Did you take the clear plastic off the back of the phone below the battery?

I dont get as good of signal as I did with my caliber. Phone signal and metro service is crappy but cheap

Oh nope, I saw it but I wasn't sure if it was meant to be there or not.

The clear plastic isn't supposed to be there. Hopefully it improves now
