Touch screen help

I purchased a really cheap tablet for my son for Christmas. I went cheap because he is only 5 years. Surprisingly he has been really careful with it, but recently he shut it off and then next time he went to turn it on it seems like the touch screen is not responsive. I am wondering if there is a way to calibrate it or did I get what I paid for. It's a MID M729. If anyone knows anything I would greatly appreciate it. My son is so bummed that it's not working.

Have you tried restarting it? Even my phone gets that way sometimes, and if I restart it, it works again.

Well depending on what type of screen it is.. capacitive is where its just glass.. if its resistive its got a piece of plastic over the screen.. try and find a screen replacement if all else fails... if theyre available..
