I used to have chompSMS and the trackball lit up when I got a new text. I uninstalled it and went back to the native texting app but decided I liked chompSMS's UI and ability to set different ringtones to different contacts so I went back to it... and now my trackball won't light up when I get a text. The notification LED flashes, but no trackball light at all. I kind of liked it cause it was the only way I could tell I got a text when I was on a call (seeing the trackball light up out of the corner of my eye).

Any ideas as to what's wrong? Or does chompSMS's latest update not support the trackball lighting up anymore?

The trackball still lights up for calls and emails though, so I know it's not the phone's hardware causing the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

3 bucks gets rid of those and you dont have to pay anything after that.

That's what I did, I paid the three dollars. Deleting messages, the nice UI, and the more advanced settings and customization made it worth it. The adds were the reason I switched back cause it lagged and ate my battery. But again, the three bucks makes it so worth it cause it's a great app. I'm sticking with it regardless of whether the trackball lights up or not, but I would just like it to light up so I don't have to have the screen turn on every time I get a text (the little LED blinking isn't really noticeable on my desk or couch while I'm not really paying attention to my phone).

I did and it kept my phone awake for some reason. And if I killed it, I wouldn't get texts. So I think I'm gonna stick with chompSMS. Too bad too, I kind of liked handcent. Plus I already paid the three dollars for chompSMS.

It doesn't keep mine awake. Hmm.. It may be because you use task killers. Using those always messed up my phone. Look at of the damned's signature and look at the article about not using a task killer.

I don't use a task killer exactly, I use OSMonitor. It allows me to kill tasks, but that's not it's main purpose, it's kind of like task manager for Windows. Everytime I looked at what was doing what in the processes section, handcent always showed a lot of usage and my awake time was upwards of 90-100%.

Are you using 1.5 or one of the 2.1 leaks?

Nope, not rooted, I haven't done anything like that. It's completely stock, as some would say.

I hate the chomp bubbleiphone wanna be stuff, and hate paying when they so blatantly cram the ads in your face. Ill send my money to the sms pop up guy and not use chomp. my opinion.

Hmm.. I would uninstall, reboot the phone, reinstall, and check all of the settings. Maybe you just have it turned off.

Then that's why. If it's not an option, then it's not supported. Hancent supports it.
Like I said, try it out. I found it much better than Chomp.

Nevermind. I'm being redundant, just remembered you were having problems with Handcent xD. I fail. Sorry.
