Log in to your Gmail account from your PC, add all of your contacts there, add your Gmail account info on your phone, and make sure the sync setting is on (or manually sync).

Once you do that, you'll never have to backup your contacts again as they'll always be saved to your Gmail account.

What NoNameFace said, but that assumes you can get the contacts off your sim card and into Gmail. Gmail is very flexible, I imported mine all at once.

Not sure about importing from a sim card. Never tried that. I put all of my contacts in my Gmail account by hand... I'm also rather old fashioned in that I have an actual address book with all of my contacts in it that I keep in my purse. Never know when the phone might die and I need access to my contacts... I'm far to old to remember phone numbers lol.

^LOL. That's not an age thing, that's a cell phone thing! I don't think anyone remembers phone numbers these days. I can't even remember my own half the time. (Ok, maybe *that's* an age thing.)

This was discussed in another thread a few months ago. Some AT&T phones have an option to email your contacts to you in a CSV. You can then use this to upload to your google contact list.

Comma Seperated Value, basically a file with all the different fields seperated by a comma. Once you have this file you can import it into gmail or Y! mail or outlook or your mail du jour.

No, it is done through your phone. I do not know how to do it. The only phone I've ever had with a SIM was my iPhone and I used gMail on it. So all of my contacts were synced to there.

As I said, there was a prior thread that discussed how to accomplish this task. I'm sure it is still hanging around in the older bits of this forum.

I doubt that. You may be able to get a SIM card reader such as this. http://www.amazon.com/Card-Reader-Memory-Cdma-Backup/dp/B00192PVNE
and pull the info off of it yourself. I have no idea what format the address book will be though.
