Help Transfering files from PC to tablet

I have just purchased a Ainol Aurora II with 16Gb internal and 16Gb external SD card.

I am having a problem transferring ebooks.

I have installed an ALDIKO ereader and wish to transfer ebooks from my laptop to the external SD storage on my tablet. I'd like to keep the internal SD as uncluttered as possible.

I thought I had transferred some ebooks to the external SD car but Now I can't find them on the tablet.

I am running ICS 4.0.3.

Do you know which directory you put the e-book files in? Is that directory visible on the tablet when using the File manager?

Thanks for the response.
I subsequently found them and transferred them to the main drive "ebook" (I think) but I was hoping to save as much data to the external 8Gb rather than on the main 16Gb drive.
Do you know how I can put data on the 8gb external and have the apps reference to these files?
