Recently put some mp4 files on my phone to watch but i can't get them to work. The movies show up but all the screen shows is a gray box in the top with a black box underneath it with no picture.

I can get the sound to work but no video.

    Any help would be appreciated.

not completely sure but you may need to get some more codecs to make the movies work. search the market for "cinema" it's a movie player apps that will put essential codecs on your phone.

try it and let us know if that works for you.

Unfortunately that didn't work. Both movies are still showing a gray box and a black box. Sound still works but no picture.

I've ripped the movies twice, i use Wondershare platinum dvd ripper and have it ripping as a mp4 file.

I used ClipNabber - download videos from YouTube, Dailymotion, Vimeo and more! to capture vimeo and utube videos and save the mp4 or fla files to my pc.

I then downloaded this free video to ipod/psp converter.

Free Video to iPod Converter: iPod Video Converter

    I used the following settings:

mp4 Mobiles phones from the drop down list
    High Quality (MPEG4, 15fps, 320X240, 600KBIT, AAC 192Kbit)

Here is a sample (only good for 7 days or 100 downloads)

    have fun! :D

Finally got it working. I used .3gp and h264 format for two different movies (Old School and Terminator 2). Both are working, Old School is perfect but Terminator 2 has a tad audio lag towards the end.

But its a step in the right direction so I'm happy.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I've copied mp4 files to my eris and can play them with the video player app with no problems. I didn't do anything special that I am aware of. I transferred them with Doubletwist from my Mac.

Does anyone know if the previous post is legit?
No offense, it's just my ISP already cut my internet for torrents and such once. :)

I can also verify that the link is legit. I have downloaded a bunch of those movies for use on my BlackBerry. Good quality too.

I have downloaded about 20 movies from that link posted above. I just recently switched from the Storm to the Eris. I put some of those movies on my Eris and the played just fine in Video Player app from the Market.
I was surprised that the Eris didn't have a video app installed already from the box, but either way, this movie post rocks. Maybe if I get bored sometime I'll make a link like that on here.

Besides converting the file on the computer and dragging it over to the phone to play on video player... do I need to do anything else? Basically do I need a program to get it on the phone or can I just drag it over like pics and music?
