Trouble with XM/Sirius on 2.2

    On my Moto Droid I'm not rooted, running the official OTA. Every since the update my sirius/xm app will not work properly. No matter what channel I listen to the audio will play for about 30 seconds then goes into a loop of the same audio. Anyone else experiencing this? Would it be Froyo related or possibly due to the app not bring updated since 2.2 dropped? Thanks for any info.

    I found this under teh FAQ's for the app:

    ALERT - Android OS 2.2(Froyo)
    The SIRIUS XM Premium Online Android App is currently incompatible with the most recent Android OS (2.2 "FROYO"). We are aware of this issue and are already working on a fix. An updated application with full 2.2 support will be posted at www.siriusxm.com/android as soon as it is available. If you would like to be notified, visit SIRIUS|XM on Android and we will send you an email once the update is available. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue.

    Meh.

    I am wondering if they will wait until FRG22 comes out before they actually "update" this app. I grew quickly tired of waiting for a fix to the numerous audio issues I encountered in FRG1B (the ota update) and rooted the phone and am now enjoying clear Sirius app playing along with all other audio sounding just fine.

    I am not at all hopeful that Sirius will ever put out a decent app as they have not put this on the marketplace due to their knowledge that it is a sub par application to begin with.

    BTW-There is one small fix you have to make after rooting (which is very easy) to make this app work if you are interested in not waiting...

    I am rooted running Liquid frozen yoguart. where do I get this app. I can't find it in the market?

    as i mentioned in my post it's not in the market due to quality concerns from Sirius...

    download, install & enjoy. i believe that you have to have an internet listening sub to log in...

    It seems they fixed the looping problem that showed up w/ froyo... I just uninstalled and installed the latest version.

    Moto droid / not rooted. :)




    BLeh!! Never mind its looping again....

    I'm not having the looping problem and I'm at 2.2.

    I'm pretty sure that only subscribers to Sirius or XM can access the Android version, for an extra fee of around $2.99 per month...

    consider yourself lucky that it does work as a non-rooted 2.2 phone...i listen to the app all day long so it was very frustrating to not have it work properly.

    as to the differences between slacker, Pandora & Sirius it is a radio service so there is talk, news, sports & entertainment programming that has commercials. and about 150 commercial free music stations, i can usually find some good music to listen to when i am not listening to talk. i have a car unit too so i am constantly listening to Sirius and i love it....

    to be honest, i am glad this happened. i am really enjoying my rooted droid and will never go back to stock :)

    CORRECTION: I am having the looping problem. So far seems to be sporadic.

    its funny that as soon as Froyo came out...we had this looping problems.. The sirius site acknowledge problems and took the app download page offline...

    Now the download page is back but it doesn't look like they fixed anything?? And the app still shows v1.0.0?

    Maybe I messed something up? Is there a newer app w/ a different version stamp?

    Any chance you could share that little fix after rooting? my friend rolled back to the previous version to gain root and of course the earlier version works fine but then he updated to Amon_RA's recovery included and then the looping returned, he could roll back again but if you could enlighten, it would be much appreciated. Thanks

    This is taking way too long. Is this really that big a problem to fix? Are there just too few users of the Android version for them to bother updating?

    In my experience every time I have flashed a new ROM or a kernel/theme I have had to do this, fyi.

    Download Root Explorer - paid app (worth the money)

    or use Estrongs file explorer which is free but using the root "tools" that enable you to write in the desired file will break the app and you'll have to re-install to be able to use it again

    in the /system folder edit the build.prop file.
    scroll down to the line that says:
    media.stagefright.enable-player=true

    change the true to a false and save the file.

    sometimes i have found that a reboot is helpful but not necessary.

    I don't hold Sirius as a company in very high regard and decided to root my phone and take matters in my own hands. I have no idea why it's taking so long to develop and fix this app, there are some other underlying issues to it in regards to the overall quality of audio on the android system.

    Most users probably don't see the point of paying for a service like Sirius on their Droid when there are so many free alternatives out there. Sure you might miss out on some exclusive stations or something, but I bet there's a stream somewhere for em. An extra $3/mo on top of their regular service fee just to use it on your phone seems a bit greedy to me.

    Do what I do. Call and tell them you want to cancel. They will offer you five months for twenty bucks. I pay the extra 2.99 a month so I can listen to O and A during work. Gets me through my day. Yes they really need to fix the looping issue NOW! I went on a trip this past weekend in hopes to listen and no luck. My wife had the looping issues with 2.1. I did not. Now we're both currently SOL for the meantime.
  17. Shoot! We were hoping that you had a different fix, we'd already rooted and changed true to false. Then, even after multiple reboots the message first reads no data connection and data connection lost. Guess It's the big SOL. None the less, thanks much for the assistance.

    The app itself has not changed in one bit, under the hood it appears that things have been updated & changes. I have been rooted since 2.2 came out so I was using the old app with no problems, today I am seeing more reliable streaming so far...

    I would have at least liked the app to auto rotate to landscape either in a dock or when moved that way...
