I just shattered the glass on my Razr M (a ceramic mug fell off a shelf and landed on the phone) and I do not have insurance and therefore can't get an easily affordable replacement. I called Verizon to see what my options were and the CSR said that one thing I might want to consider is getting a new side contract or "dummy line" for 9.99 a month which would then allow me to get a new Razr M at the discounted price, which I could in turn use on my existing account, though I'd still have to pay that 9.99 for the next two years. Is this my best option? I've scouted eBay and craigslist for phones and could probably get one for around half the retail cost of a new one, but of course the less out of pocket expense the better. Any advice (aside from ponying up for the insurance next time)?
