turning off google now dragging in full screen

I have been enjoying jelly bean on my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 tablet but the drag up for Google now button is infuriating while playing full screen games. It interupts the full screen game ruining all game progress et cetera.
Does anyone know how to disable this drag-up-for-google-now function during full screen games/video as I otherwise like the Google Now feature.

cyanogenmod has a feature called extended desktop that hides your bottom buttons when you long press on the power button and select extended desktop. might be worth looking into.
