Help Unable to install app - Not enough memory

I'm trying to install an app: PocketGod, its an 18.61MB file, so it's a pretty large app, but when I try to install it, I get the message 'Out of space PocketGod could not be viewed. Free up some space on your phone and try again.' I've gone into 'Manage Applications' and cleared all the caches and removed apps I absolutely didn't need, yet it still won't install! Looking at my free memory now, I have 42.32MB of space free! Can anyone help me?

Install Root Explorer(you need to be Rooted)>Open it>Go to 'cache' folder...

Now, you'll see 'downloadfile' apks... These are the apps that you installed from the Market.. So, if you want to keep them as backup for future use, move them to sdcard & if you don't want them just delete them... This should free up some more space...

Hope it installs then...

**Check the 2nd post here for Root Explorer: http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-gt540/238374-youtube-v2-0-26-android-2-1-a.html

Hmm, I tried this, still doesn't seem to work, saying there isn't enough space, now I have 36.25MB of space left...

I read the whole thread and apparently the camera is working. The bluetooth...well maybe maybe not !

Does anyone know how to install it ? Apparently the latest version is this:

http://openswift.googlecode.com/files/Openswift_4.3.7z

What am i supposed to do with it?
Also does anyone know if i can use the non-native APPS2SD with this firmware? Apparently the native 2.2 apps2sd isnt much of a solution since this phone's memory is extremely small

Yeah, they sorted the camera, you can take still pictures but not video's yet. To install it you need to have fastboot or recovery, I'm guessing you have a stock ROM from LG?

arekl1988r from xda-developers has modified the Europe open, UK Carphone Warehouse, and Orange Poland ROM to include fastboot. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828003 there's the link, just flash with the KDZ updater and your good to go with fastboot! :D

Yep, good'ol V20B

So, is that a "google it" ?

http://goo.gl/WZAa5 That's a link to a zip file I created with all the files needed to flash V20B with fastboot, the instructions are inside the readme file inside the zip folder. Note that the V20B with fastboot in the zip folder is the Carphone Warehouse 2.1 version, if you want a different version, click the link I posted above (though it won't really matter what version because you'll be flashing CyanogenMod onto the phone afterwards :p )

http://goo.gl/Um4pw That's a link to another zip file I created with all the files needed to flash CyanogenMod to your phone. If you don't flash the phone with it now, the files will most likely become outdated, when Quarx and ankuch update their CyanogenMod ROM, I'll update the files inside the zip folder so it's always up to date. :) Again the instructions are inside the zip folder :D

Make sure you follow the instructions exactly as they're written. As always, with flashing your phone, there's always the risk of bricking your phone. I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your phone because of flashing custom firmware.

Hope this helps! :D

EDIT: 3/1/11 2:12pm CyanogenMod link updated to v4.3

Now i am having another problem

The archive was corrupt so i downloaded a 2.1 (with fastboot) ROM from someplace else and when i powered it on holding the volume down + camera buttons it went into download mode which presumably isnt the same as fastboot mode. Now fastboot says waiting for device and does nothing. How long was that part supposed to take anyway?

Download mode isn't the same as fastboot mode, to put the phone in fastboot mode, hold down the camera button whilst powering on the phone, continue holding it whilst the LG logo shows, and when the LG logo disappears, the phone should just show a blank screen and nothing more, once it does this, it's in fastboot mode

In the instructions it says volume down+ camera which puts it in download mode. In any case none of those 2 ways is working(As i told you i am not using the ROM in the archive you linked to). I am downloading yet another rom as we speak...

ah that's why, the rom you have installed doesn't have fastboot, i wrote those instructions wrong, its meant to be just camera while powering on, once the rom with fastboot is flashed, it'll work

Lets see , i am flashing another one (even though it did say explicitly that it does have fastboot)

Too bad though because i liked it alot. That thing where you scroll to a specific letter in the contacts actually worked with greek names. That would be nice to have but it didnt have a greek keyboard...

None of this will matter though if i can get 2.2 to work (and if it works well of corse)
