Root Unable to install system software update from htc.com

Hi

Wondering if someone has had a similar experience, I hope you can assist.

I'm Unable to install an automatic system software update from htc.com on my rooted Desire with Froyo 2.2
Update was successfully downloaded and starts to install, progress bar reaches the 25% mark than the phone goes into root mode with the message;

ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

Otherwise the phone works just fine.

Any input would be appreciated.

You can't install official updates on rooted android. You shouldn't even try or you may mess up your phone

right, However, how can I stop my rooted HTC Tattoo to bother me every 15 minutes asking me to install the update that was already downloaded?
Where is the update file or flag the triggers the pop-up message

There is a setting for auto checking updates, turn this off.
Can't remember where this is as custom roms don't have it.

Try
Settings>about phone>system software updates

And uncheck the box.
