    Hello,

I'm looking into buying an HTC Legend and unlocking it so that I may use it in the US and was wondering if this is at all possible. I'll be working there for the next few months and would like a phone that I can use with a US carrier while in the US and with a Canadian carrier when I return. With that said, I'm interested in buying the phone upfront because I don't want a contract. Any help is much appreciated!

The point of unlocking a phone is so that it can be used anywhere.

If your phone is already unlocked, all you need to do is bring your phone to a phone store and buy a simcard (sometimes the cards are free) and then get a pay-as-you-go service.

Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong.

That makes perfect sense. I know it seems obvious, but I'm kind of clueless when it comes to this sort of thing (thus the dumb question). Thank you!

No, when you unlock the phone to be used on any carrier, it is permanent. Even though full erases.
