After a full day of testing its really stable and beside those 2 everything else works(3g works so im not left without net).

Anyway i think im going to stay on the stock rom unless there is nothing i could do to help you with this.Id try to make a rom on my own but with the crappy pc,slow net(literary took me 50 min to download just the rom) and no experience i dont think i have the nerves.

Is there any way to get the LG L40 into recovery mode without adb/root from a working system? I tried all combinations of VolUp, VolDown, Home, and Power, but all of them boot the device normally.

I'm hesistant to experiment with a custom ROM if I don't have a means to recover from a bootloop or otherwise failed ROM update. Surely vm03 must have had a few boot problems to resolve while porting CM11?

...power off you phone-take out the battery-put it again-hold volume down with power till you see the lg logo leave the keys and hold the power key again
Thanks for the response. It seems that the timing is quite critical (release VolDown+Power, immediately press Power again).

However, I am then greeted with a screen "Perform factory reset? Yes/No". No recovery boot loader. A factory reset will not help me to unbrick a device if something went wrong with the ROM upgrade.

Note: I have an encrypted /data partition and this is a D160 L40 (the single-SIM version). Maybe that makes a difference?

Uhm, no CWM yet, since I won't flash anything before I'm sure that I can recover the original bootloader (with fastboot) and OS image. :)
P.S. I didn't try it myself, but a Youtube clip confirms that pressing YES on the "Factory reset?" prompt wil indeed do a factory reset (after one more confirmation) of the L40-D175 (dual SIM). It seems to work without battery removal. I found the manual for the L40-D160, which doesn't mention the battery either. (Nor does it mention a way to enter recovery mode). Oh well. I'm not going to risk hard-bricking this phone.

Hi guys.
I have a problem with my d-170.
I installed cwm but it says device not found after 'adb reboot recovery' command.
then I tried this:
exit
adb reboot recovery

but it reboots the phone normally .
how can I get to recovery mode?
I tried VOL- and Power buttons but it just do factory reset!
1. You run adb reboot recovery comand from phone, not from PC. On phone just run reboot recovey from terminal under root.
2. If you use CWM from first post, it CAN'T DO wipe after you pres Yes for Factory reset.
