ok so i rooted with easy root and was unable to keep a custom recovery so i used rsd lite to load one on there...after that i was able to load custom roms...and did so for about a month. Last night m phone completely froze and would reboot after minutes of a black unresponsive screen. I had to battery pull and it would give me like 5 minutes of usage on the phone when it would start to act up and freeze again. So i went to easy root to unroot and it kept say i was already rooted??!?!? i knew i was but i was trying to unroot. I was running Simply Stunning 4.7 with Chevys Ultra Low 1GHz 7 slot kernel. SU would not respond and Wireless tether app would not work..but i still had clockwork mod recovery and Busybox said i was rooted?? So i Unrooted with a 2.2 sbf file and it was a successful unroot, BUT with the phone freezing continued. I noticed it would freeze and reboot by itself and then work perfect, but if i turned my phone off it would freeze up again with black screen and reboot, then it worked again. So if it rebooted on its own it would work, but if i turned off or did a battery pull it would last me about five minutes before it would act up and reboot. HORROR STORY! Went to Verizon Store and they ordered a replacemetn for me :)...THIS IS MY TENTH REPLACEMENT DROID SINCE LAUNCH!! All Hardware problems besides this one. And they still didnt budge when i asked for a different device...but i LOvE this phone..So i dont mind..what do you guys think happened with my phone?

It sounds like my Droid exactly running ANY froyo rom. It ran 2.1 roms fine, but would lag, freeze, become unresponsive, especially right after booting up, then would FC a lot and have black screens where nothing worked requiring battery pulls.

I too was about to get a replacement Droid, but I decided to see if it was a messed up memory card, and it was. I had a spare SD card, so I put that in my Droid and it ran perfectly.

I ended up reformatting my original 16gb card and my original Droid has been running smooth and cool with great battery life since.

FYI, easyroot messed up my Droid as well. I also had to flash it with rsd lite and an sbf to recover it.

I found the Damn problem!!!! it was a Movie i downloaded onto my memory card!!! i had just copied it to my phone through usb when problems occured!!! i just deleted it and everything is normal again! It was Expendables.mp4 i downloaded for Droid from mobilism...easyroot still didnt let me unroot though..i have heard people say you need to have stock root to unroot and not have custom rom to unroot with easyroot

EDIT: oh well i will be getting another replacement already though

if you have a custom rom installed easy root cant unroot you. Unroot will only work if you are on stock with root.

Are you backing up your files to pc 1st, then formatting and adding everything back? Or are you just wiping it clean?
Every time I plug mine into my windows7 machine it always says something about "errors found do you want to scan and fix" it did that the first day I had the droid and ever since, I assumed windows would F something up so I never let it fix..
Now wondering if I should let it...

exactly what I was thinking... gotta flash back first...
It's called EasyRoot, not EasyUnroot... LMFAO.

Once I am on stock with root, how can I unroot? My headphone jack is messing up and I need to get a warranty replacement.

    http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/verizon_voles/a5e329b00288.signed-voles-ota-50454.zip

Download that and flash it in recovery as an update.zip or use RSD Lite and an SBF.

For flashing an sbf see this thread under reverting to stock heading.
