    Hi

I am guessing that this has been asked a thousand times before.

I got my first ever Android phone yesterday HTC Hero on Vodafone from Carphone wherehouse.

I have been looking over the phone and love it. however I wish to know is it up-to-date?
I have gone to Settings and phone info and it says the following:
    Model number HTC Hero
    Firmware Version 1.5
    Build number 1.76.405.6
    Software version 1.0.0.A6288

As I am new I don't know what I am looking for to see if it is up-to-date

Please could some one point me in the right direction.

    Many Thanks
    g0at.:)

Your build number is out of date. You should have 2.73.405

My Hero is on vodaphone from Carphone warehouse too. I just downloaded the update from the HTC website.

The latest build number is 2.73.405.xx and you can get it from htc website. As this update will wipe-out your phone, you can wait for one more month (as per rumors) and get straight the next android update/release.

The new 405 rom update gives a massive speed increase so I suggest if you cannot use a laggy phone for a month until the next 2.1 firmware update then just update it

I'm on a MAC though...so can't use that update. Does anyone know where I can just download the ROM by itself so I can manually install this??

    Thanks so much everyone.
