update operating system

I am using Sony xperia x10a with AT&T. My phone came with android firmware 2.1 update 1. How can I get a newer operating system and what will it do for me?

No 2.3 for AT&T's version of the x10.

AT&T have a specially modded version of the the x10 android software. And they haven't provided 2.3 to their customers like every other company in the world that sold the x10 has.

Only way to upgrade to 2.3 is to do things that would void any type of warranty.

It would be to install the generic version of 2.1 (not AT&Ts) or a generic version of 2.3.
