And no more FC! Yippy!
Thanks for posting. Updated it. GV Force closing was annoying.
Cool, I might switch back to GV now. I'd gone back to the visual voicemail from Sprint. They both have their advantages....
Can you get invites from other people for GV like they did for Wave? Google likes to ignore my requests for invites.
Make sure your request comes from a Gmail account...
Just updated mine.
I was very happy when I reinstalled it and found no more FCs. However, are they pushing SMS yet? I haven't checked it out yet but if it is only updating SMS when it refreshes every 15+ minutes that still sucks.
sms is pushed
Google Voice for Android goes real-time - BusinessWeek
How do you update it? I'm not getting the notification that there is an update available. I have version 0.3.0. Thanks.
just search the market for google voice or scan the barcode.
Thanks, just read your post and was going to do as you said, when I looked at my phone I had the notification that there was an update.
Did sprint stop charging for forwarding? I was going to setup GV on my wifes moment for the voicemail transcribing but the .20 a call forwarding fee is dumb.
I sent an invite using my gmail address and still no GV
yeah they have free unconditonal call forwarding which is *28 instead of the usual *72 for forwarding it tells you what to type for sprint when you set it all up
You know a super sneaky thing to do is to sign up for the Sprint to Home service ($5 a month) and list your GV number... Unlimited incoming and outgoing calls to one number - $5 a month! You can then add your GV number as the Home number and everything is golden.
Watch for the dial out number in your GV app though, it wasn't my normal GV number when I called out on the app...
When in doubt - reboot the phone!
This new version of Google Voice gave me the FC error when I installed and went into settings.
But the best thing is that I didn't get the FC error like I always used to when I power on the phone. And after rebooting the problem went away. Finally, Google Voice works on my Moment like it should! (Just in time to start this process all again when we get Android 2.1?)
I am so anxious to get google voice, but i've waited months for an invitation. Any chance one of you guys could offer me one? Thanks so much!!
Hey, since the this update-- for those of you who have turned on the newer synchronization feature, is anyone experiencing a lot more 'Airplane moding'?
Or, for me at least, just that little "x" up where EV usually is? Its happened at least 4 times today and didn't realize it until I looked at GV on my laptop browser.
This new synchronization feature of which you speak, would that be in GV settings, Refresh and notification, Synchronize Inbox?
I have it checked and I've never experienced Airplane Mode, but then I never experienced it before the update either.
Yes, that one. I only had 1 data lock today, (since the gv sync has been off), and it was while trying to download a podcast... I'll still keep an eye on it.
If I setup my GV with the option of keeping my current number for visual voicemail could I then get a GV number for emergencies. Basically if I choose option 1 does that preclude me from option 2 even if I get a 2nd invite. If not does anyone see any potential problems going this route? Thank you in advance for any advice.
You like Sprint's visual voicemail? GV has one up'd them on that. When you get a GV voicemail you get a transcribed voicemail sent to your phone. It's not perfect, as a matter of fact sometimes the mistakes are pretty damn funny, but they get the point across.
Not sure what type of emergency you're talking about but you have to have a phone that GV piggybacks on top of. If that phone is not working (or lost) GV won't help, except that you could always transfer your incoming calls to another phone on the web.
If you don't consider it too much hassle go with option two and tell everyone you have a new number. You won't regret it. And I think I remember reading before I signed up, that you can change your mind whenever you want, but don't quote me on that.
You can put contacts into groups and have customized outgoing messages for each group (family, business, friends). Or have a customized message for each contact. Or selectively always send specific contacts or groups to voicemail (business, creditors, your mooching brother, etc). I've got a widget on my website, that when clicked (after entering their number) will call the clickers phone and then connect them with my phone, for free from anywhere in the US or Canada. And you can make international calls with your GV number for pretty cheap.
I'm stuck and hoping there is a trick I'm overlooking to make this work? Since changing numbers would negatively impact work I'm setting up GV with my current number on my cell. Then I plan to use a second GV # and forward the calls to the same cell. So 1 cell with 2 numbers, my current #=A and a new GV#=B. To forward line B I have to designate to were, either "home", "work", or "mobile". The fact that line A designates my cell as its "mobile" selection makes it so I can't select the "mobile" option for line B. So I label it "home" and it's forwarded. So line A works great, the correct CID on outgoing/incoming calls/SMS. My problem is line B outgoing/incoming calls work but because it's labeled as "home" no sms. Since line B is going to be for personal use I'd like to be able to msg. Any ideas? Sorry if its a bit drawn out but I noticed my last post was pathetically unclear on my part.
Sorry to bump, but looking for an invite if anyone can help me out.
