Yes and no. The update is from Darch and now the 9/18 RC1 is stable for an everyday rom:D

Still can flash nightlies as usual, but this is for anyone that wants to use the 9/18 RC1 as an everyday stable rom without flashing the nightlies

Don't know what the difference in the gapps are but I would assume all of the apps like voice search, chrome 2 phone.... are in there. Those would be in your app tray and not in your market downloads

from reading the stuff at xda and cyanogen's site, its the stable release, not an RC. the changelog is actually calling it CM 6.1

Just flashed the update and it is all good so far. In fact, on the 8/19 build, I was having some issues loading all of my photos into the gallery. On this stable build that issue seems to be fixed.

so would this be flashed the same as a nightly (cache/davlik cleared), or is a wipe necessary?

works like a charm. So by saying it is a "stable release", does that mean there is no need for nightlies after this or is it worth flashing one every week or so, as ive been doing, to keep it updated?

the new gapps made a definite improvement on google maps. on the 8/17 version, the closest it would locate me to was the other side of the parking lot. Now, inside my apartment, it has me to within what i would guess to be 10-20 feet, and the pointer is dead on which direction the phone is pointing. Chrome to phone was not on this update, but free in the market, so that was simple enough. Ive had the update on for the last 3 hours or so and everything is smooth sailing

so this is CM6.1, not CM6, correct? & i thought CM6 was a stable rom for everyday use, so is CM6.1 even better, more stable, but not a final release

is there any benefit in flashing the nightlies, b/c im not having any issues w/ stability in any of the cm6 or nightlies as far as i know.

in your opinion, if you arnt having issues w/ nightlies, what would you do:
    run cm6 w/ or w/o nightlies
    run cm6.1 w/ or w/o nightlies

i just want my phone to be all that it can be, & more

    thanks

General answer would be, if you enjoy flashing the nightlies, I would continue doing that. But since it is still testing, bugs may be in the nightlies.

CM6.1 would be for anyone that wants a stable everyday rom, flash it once and wait for an official update from Darch and Cyanogen, if and when that comes.

I'm going to continue flashing the nightlies as normal, flashed the 919 last night and hopefully the 920 will be here tonight:D:D

Stable release is for anyone that wants to flash once. Flashing the nightlies once a week is just fine:)

yea, i just flashed 919 also, & like flashing the nightlies.
is there any benefit to flashing the cm6.1, then flashing the nightlies.
for example, is the signal bar fixed in cm6.1, b/c if so, that will stick, even if you install a nightly.

i think im gonna flash cm6.1, then go back & flash 919

I would not think flashing the CM6.1 would be a huge benefit because you are up to date with the 919, essentially the 918 or the 919 is the CM6.1

Flash the CM6.1 then wait until the 920 comes out, imo

a little confused, i thought nightlies were unstable/buggy, & the cm6.1 is stable, but your saying that 918 & higher are the same as cm6.1:confused:

What do you think the RC1 was? The nightlies continued to be built every night after the RC1 until another stable release came which is now a stable/final CM6.1. As far as the nightlies, have you noticed the size of the previous 10-15 nightlies? All were 55.3 mb. Got the bugs out and now the CM6.1

so basically they took the cm6 9/18 nightly & made it stable, & now its called cm6.1?

everybody @ cyanogenmod forums knows nothing about this, thats why im asking.

on, another note, on the OG CM6 RC1 thread, it states that its a stable everyday use rom too

Flashed this morning, everything is good except when clicking in the photo gallery in camera mode and then back to camera freezes the phone.

If I am wrong on the process of the CM6, then I sincerely apologize. By no means was that my intention to put out misinformation about the CM6.1. Of all things that I had read, this was my assumption about the CM6.1. Of course we all know the saying, "when you assume, you make an ass out of you and me". Again, if I was wrong about the process, I am sorry :)

oh, no no, im not saying your wrong at all, but when the 1st CM6 RC1 came out, it said it was stable enough for everyday use, & now CM6.1 is supposed to be stable.

im just confused, b/c when i asked about CM6.1 over on CM forums, nobody even heard of CM6.1, & some even said it wasnt out yet, & i linked them to the links @ the top of the thread, & the change log too, & i was kinda laughed at, saying it was bogus.

im just trying to figure out whats what.

i installed an older nightly, & compared the app versions of the nightly to the change log 6.1.0, & they matched up, eg: awd, superuser.

so, not saying your wrong at all, youve been really really helpful:D, just confused thats all, even though xda did update the CM6.0.0-RC1 thread from 8/15 to 9/18, so idk:confused:

Alright, now I'm getting confused:p. If the CM forum is saying that they never heard of CM6.1 and norm12 says it's CM6.1(I've seen his posts at xda), what the heck is it. I guess one thing is for sure, I just flashed the 920 and everything is running beautifully;)

Personally, flash the 920 and not worry about the 'stable' release 9/18
