Help upgrade from 2.3.7 to 4.0.4 failed to complete.

Hi everyone,

I am using an htc desire running at 2.3.7 android version and cm 7.2.0rc1 rom.So I made an effort of upgrading it to 4.0.4 ,i have download the version to the root of the sd card and rename the zip file as update.I procced in recovery mode
and press apply zip file from the sd card.Now the thing is that the upgrade procedure is stopped and following message comes up

failed to stat "/system/build.prop" No such file or directory
E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted

devise is rooted and i have already download root explorer in case needed.
Any suggestions of solving this issue?

You don't need to rename anything.

May be the zip is corrupt. Which zip? Link please

i have just downloaded cm9 version from following link
[ROM] ICS 4.0.4 BCM RC3.2U2 GSM/CDMA <2012-04-16> (Bravo CM9 HWA) - xda-developers and it is already started running.

it was my fault cause i was trying to install a rom not suitable for desire.
