Does anyone think there will be a subsidized updrade path for us early G1 adopters (read: cheap) if the g2 does indeed hit the US Market?

Good question! But, please just post in one forum.. not four. All the regulars here see it all - you're question won't be missed.

I would bet the answer is no, but that's just my bet - who knows!

(and I've never worked with T-Mobile.)

I'm guessing the upgrade path will be:

Buy G2 phone. Put sim card in new phone. Ebay old G1 phone.

well, since there isn't a G2, I'm not sure what upgrade path (if any) would be involved.

I would imagine the upgrade path would be the same normal "discount" as always for the annual handset upgrade. Or the previous mentioned path of "buy G2, ebay G1"....

I will stick with this G1 now that I have it just the way I like it (rooted of course) configured with the sdcard for apps and tethering via bluetooth OR wifi.....so many possibilities. I will hate to have to do it again with the G2 but will eventually have to do it :)

My bad for posting to multiple forums. It was tough to find the appropriate forum for this Q. New here. Won't happen again.

"Annual" upgrade? When did that happen? They've been having me sign 2 year contracts and we know they don't let you get a discounted handset until that 2-years is almost up.

I doubt it! In Europe at least the G2 will be a Vodafone Exclusive so it's pretty much impossible that T-Mobile would offer the G2 as upgrade path here.
