Okay, so I have an X10 with Android 1.6.
I've read about 2.2 and I get conflicting information.
Some say it's out and it's great, some say it's not out yet.
Anyway, I would like to upgrade my phone, if not to 2.2 then at least 2.0 or 2.1.
I'm not useless with computers and technology, but I'm no developer either.
What is the method/steps to upgrade my phone?

    I'm on an Xperia X10.
    I'm with Rogers, in Canada.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This question relates to your question but what does rooted mean?

2.2 is out, but not yet for the X10, and the only update the X10 will be getting (sometime in sept to dec) will be the 2.1 update.

So right now until the update is released is the 1.6.

That is disappointing that they can't even offer us 2.2 on the next update.

Yes as stated above right now we are stuck with 1.6 unless you want to root your phone and try out the Cyanogen OS, it has a lot of cool features and mods out for it but it is not 2.1 or 2.2, Sony for some reason is taking there sweet #$% time putting out this update, so this right now is the only choice, and don't worry you are not the only one that is stuck waiting here in canada on rogers for the X10 update, I to got caught up in all the hype and ran out and bought one to replace my LG Eve, I have thought about going out and picking up a HTC Evo or even the Acer Liquid just so I can be up to date but common sense say's wait ,for by this time next year there will be a whole new lineup of new android phones waiting for us to empty our wallets yet again...LOL
But if you are interested in taking a look at the Cyanogen OS here is the link to XDA where you can download it and read up on it.
