Ok, this is probably a silly question but please be gentle with me as i am new to the world of Android and the Desire...

How do i connect the phone to my PC with the usb cable?

When i plug in nothing happens. The book says "connect phone with supplied cable" which i do, then apparently a "connect to pc dialiog box" should appear, but i dont get this. The phone just starts to charge.

    So what am i missing?

If i take the card out i can transfer files directly but i dont want to have to keep taking the card out, its a pain

    Any help appreciated

    Cheers

Pull down the notification bar after you plug in the phone, is there a connection option in there?

    Go to menu..setting...Connect to PC

You then have the choice of your default connection (select disk drive if you want to mess around with the SD card) or "ask".

    No, nothing

Pulling down the notification bar just shows, T-Mobile No notifications

When i plug in the notification light goes green and the phone starts charging so it must be recognising a connection but i cant find this "connect to pc dialiog box"

    Couple of things to try:

    Try a different USB port.
    Try a different PC.
Try installing the HTC Sync software (installs the drivers).
