Is there any software or app I can get to manage my contacts via my computer? I am looking to add, delete and edit contact info on my pc rather than go through and do it all through the phone.

You can manage your contacts through google on your computer. Just sign in to your google account and go to contacts. Changes made will be reflected on your phone.

I did try that, my phone says it is synced with my gmail but when I go onto gmail on the computer the contacts list is empty.

Open up your contacts, hit the menu key, click "More" and then "Settings. The first option on tha list is "Save new contacts to". That's probably set to "Phone". You can change it there to save to your google account or ask you where to save them.

Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to get my "phone" contacts over to Google without re-entering them.

Move phone contacts to Gmail contacts? - xda-developers

Once I got everything moved over I deleted all phone and sim contacts and use only google contacts to prevent duplicates.

This came from koadic on the xda forum
"when you export your contacts on the phone, it creates the vcf file on your sdcard, and when you hit the import/export button again, you then choose import, and select the gmail account instead of phone, then the contacts you just backed up get uploaded to the associated gmail account instead of just restoring them on the phone locally"
