Anyone know of a way to get a laptop or netbook to access and use the Droid's GPS (via tethering)? Basically using the phone as a GPS receiver.

I know with WinMo you could use the app GPS Gate to do this. I don't know if they made a Android version though.

Should theoretically be possible. As soon as someone writes an app. ;)

I want this app right now! I have a SWEET 10" asus that is dying to have GPS on board for long trips! Opens up worlds of possibilities. Ultimately what I would like to have is bluetooth tether to the netbook, and a google maps plugin or some sort of desktop software that has turn by turn and maps in a flashy version of the desktop maps. That would be great.

That's exactly what I would want it for. That frees up the Droid for phone calls and other on the road stuff. Of course you're probably going to want an car charger, but for the Asus they are cheap, like $15.
