Lost my third inc last night and I'm here to tell ya... VS customer service is fantastic and assurion is the best $7 a month ever. No questions asked, new phone in hand. Not amoled but that doesn't bug me. It was too bright for me anyway.

    Yay VZ!

I simply added the Incredible to my homeowner's insurance. $30/year for loss/damage/theft coverage.

Damage is only covered if it is caused by a covered cause of loss. You dropping it and breaking it would not be covered. Just sayin'....

That really depends on your insurance provider/policy. If his agent said it was covered, it'll be covered (but don't just assume that sticking a rider on the policy will give you protection).

And it's possible he actually has a entirely separate policy (a personal articles policy) covering the phone, which are far more inclusive.

My Dinc took a nasty fall a couple of months ago. I went into the VZW store and filed a claim over the phone with Asurion there. It was a Saturday. Paid the $80 and had a NEW replacement Monday. While I was there, I upgraded another line on my plan and got the Fascinate. I just keep the Dinc as a backup now. But, yeah I agree with the OP about VZW and Asurion.

I have to agree - I have never had any problems with Verizon or Assurion customer service - NEVER. I see people talking crap about them all the time, but it has just not been my experience. Yes, Verizon is overpriced, and, no, they don't show any customer loyalty; but what service provider does? But in my book, Verizon has it all over the others in CS.

And let me be clear, I'm not talking about the people in the stores. IMHO they are all idiots; sorry, just my experience. I'm talking about the people on the phone - from customer service to tech support - they ROCK!

Not true, the agent is not the claims adjuster, and the policy language dictates the coverage, not what the agent says. Now, he may have an E&O claim against his agent if he provides incorrect coverage information, but he would have to have some sort of documentation that he was told something was covered when it wasn't. A personal articles floater is made a part of your HO policy, and may be amend the policy's causes of loss to be a bit broader than the standard HO coverage, but again - things like dropping your phone and water damage are rarely, if ever, covered. The HO policy is a standardized ISO form, and any company-specific forms (such as the personal articles floaters) must be filed and approved in their respective states for use, so you may see some variance by state. The point is...read your policy, and know what it says. Most people who depend on their HO policy for coverage on a mobile device end up mad because it doesn't cover some very common causes of loss, even with endorsements specifically tailored to mobile device coverage. I'm licensed with 112 carriers, and I haven't seen one yet that I would drop my Asurion coverage for.

It is a little better, but since my glasses are polarized I have to hold the phone in portrait mode or I can't see it at all. This is a problem driving also since I use it in landscape for the GPS mount.

I hate to say it, but I agree with all of this. People like to go with their home owners insurance because it is so much cheaper but you really need to be careful and understand your policy and coverage, because often times that "cheaper" coverage isn't going to help you when the time comes to use it.

Not saying that they are all bad, but like Dawnierae said, make sure you read and understand your policy. Which is just good advice in general :)

Oh, and agents lie all the time. In fact, they typically have a vested interest in misleading you (either due to commissions or quota bonuses). Sometimes they simply misinform, either intentionally or unintentionally. But at the end of the day, it's always good to know and understand it yourself and ask questions. Because "but my agent said it was!" isn't going to get you anywhere when you try to file an uncovered claim.

3 times? Thought you could only file a couple claims a year with asurion?

Yeah, I was going to ask about that too. I filed 2 claims within about 8 months of my son getting his phone, and even though Assurion did their job and we got the new phones with no hassle, we got the letter about a week later saying that he is no longer covered. Of course, the upside is I don't have to pay that monthly fee for the insurance anymore....... Still, he breaks that darn phone again, and he's on his own!

Lost two (one from the top of my car, the second off of a boat), Assurian replaced them, bricked one, VZ replaced!

You, Grimstar, need to get outta my head! :D I won't have my pilot's license for another 6 months and I should be OK for a new replacement by then so I think I'm OK. It is weird, I've still got a mint condition Alltel StarTAC so old it can't be activated (on my kick ass Alltel plan that the VZ sales agents bring their co-workers over to gawk at) because it is not e911 compliant. I've never, EVER lost or broken a phone before now and I'm more sober than ever in my old age. I think I might just start enjoying myself more. Maybe I'll be more careful.

I'm a Navy Instructor Pilot, usually fly 6-8 flights per week, often 2x a day. Carry my DINC in my flight suit sleeve pocket where it fits perfectly. Have yet to have any mishaps while flying even while doing aerobatics or inverted flight. That's one reason I'll never get the DX or D2; my phone has to fit into my flight suit sleeve pocket or it will just rattle around in my leg pocket and probably break during said maneuvering.

Also, I made a (semi) emergency text to home one day at 6,000 feet using my DINC; that was a banner moment I can tell ya!

If you're not supposed to text and drive at the same time, I can't imagine flying at 300 mph in a $60,000,000 F/A-18 while texting is a very good plan...

    Kidding.

Oh, hey. 1,000th POST. Yay for me, apparently!

That just kicks ASS. Verizon needs to hire you as a spokesman! I get to see the Blue Angels every other year for a few days since I live right on Tampa Bay and they alternate with the Thunderbirds at our MacDill AFB Air Show. I always have a pool party and even beyond being amazed by the skill, sight and SOUND we all pray for each and every one of our men and women in the Armed Forces. I hope that your Veterans Day was a great one. My Dad was a Navy pilot on the Enterprise. He was a great man and I'm proud to meet one of his Brothers even if it is online.

By the way, what altitude were you at when you finished your text message?
