This is really annoying and I can't figure out how to get it to stop...

When I'm in a call and get an email or text message, the phone vibrates as it normally would- causing the person on the other end of the line to hear a really annoying noise...

Is there a way to turn off notification sounds/vibrations when you're in a call.

It's only been doing it since 2.1 OTA upgrade...never happened on 1.5 at all.

    Thanks!

Maybe it only does it when I have phone ringer on vibrate and answer a call, then get a notification? Guess I'll have to check that out.

Your phone only makes a tone? I envy you. I wish I could get a tone rather than a vibrate because when I get a text people I'm on the phone with wonder what the hell is going on lol. I know Handcent has the tone feature but I don't like Handcent personally. Is that what you use?

And maybe it vibrates because I have vibrate on for text messages no matter what the sound level is... I wonder if I turn that off what will happen.

i wonder if it would play the tone through the speaker used during a phone call kinda like it does when on a call while using navigation. that would be way more convenient but i don't talk on the phone enough for it to really bother me.

You can turn off the vib from incoming emails by going to email, account settings, Notification settings and turn off "vibrate when email arrives"

Same as above for SMS messages. Open messaging app, then Settings -> Notifications -> Vibrate

Well, I use chomp. What I do is have the privacy settings set, so that only the name of the person who texted me shows up. I also use the pop up, and theres privacy settings for that, too. And you can always blacklist people to avoid their texts from showing up.

As for the sound/vibrate issue during a call. There is an option in chomp to notify you during a call. The two options are play ringtone or vibrate. Since you don't want to vibrate, select ringtone. The only reason I don't pick this is because my ringtone is about 30 seconds long, and during a call thats unbearable. Also, I tried using handcent, I didn't like it at all. AND the sound notification didn't work. Thats the reason I uninstalled it.

Go to the Phone app >> Settings >> Call >> Call Alerts
At the bottom of the list, there is a section called "Alerts on call" and the option to "Notify during calls". I unchecked it and it stopped vibrating during a call. However, the stock email app will still cause the phone to vibrate during a call.
