I see there are several options for video chat for the evo, are there any apps that have been tested and approved for the incredible? Apple is releasing their app on the new Iphone, I would think android dev teams would create an app that can blow away any apple video chat app. i would love to see an app that allows video chat/call

Both those phones have front facing camera's, doing a video chat on the INC would a little odd if you ask me.

Fring. AND it works over the network instead of just WiFi, so you don't have to be constantly telling people to turn off their WiFi..... It works really well too, video is relatively smooth.

I've used it on my DInc with my friend on his Evo. While it is a bit awkward not having a front facing camera, If you can position a mirror behind the phone at the proper angle, you can get yourself while still being able to see the screen. Ghetto, I know, but it works. :p

I'm trying to figure out a way to do it better...

Wow. Fring is awesome. Never knew about it before. It works with every android phone right? So apple people have to use iphone 4 to iphone 4 on wi-fi only while this allows any android phone to any android phone on any company (sprint, verizon, etc...) over 3G and wifi and is free? Best app ever. I mean, I need to find more people with android phones but in a few months, maybe a year or two, everyone will be thinking about android and then it will be awesomer.

I haven't tried the micrphone yet. It does sound I'm just guessing and it seems obvious it would but I'm just curious if the audio is the same as a regular phone call.

Gotta check that out. I don't get the hype of a front facing camera. Yes, it's convenient if you do heavy video chatting, but I see it more as a novelty.

Fring is great!!! I just tested it out. The only item i now wonder about is integration with Google talk. Does anyone know if there is going to be an update, or are they working on a version where Google talk video chat will work on the inc?

I agree it is a little awkward about no front facing camera, but being able to talk and show my wife what the kids or I are doing is amazing!

im sure someone will develop a plug in camera for the Dinc. If not someone should, you'd get my money. One could even be built in to a silicone case, that would rule.

Is Fring safe? It wants access to basically the entire phone. Wont mind doing a chat in front of a mirror or whatever...sure would like a front facing cam or a plug in for the Incredible!

    HTC incredible video chat (working)

Fring use to work with an add on for skype but is no longer supported but here is the true work around for HTC incredible video chat !!

install the IP web cam (from the market)
    run IP web cam
scroll to the bottom press start server
    see server is running at

open up a web browser type in your routers IP address usally by defualt

add a port forward to the router
by adding the ip address of your ip cam to the list start 8080 end 8080 (check mark enable) and save

    (how to add port fowards)
please see portfoward.com (for a list of routers and how to add the port forwards)

go to whatsmyip.org/ to find out your ip public ip address

open web browser type in your pubilc IP address got from whatsmyip.org
    add :8080

    example public ip address

note: also if you have a username and password on your ip web cam you would have to share this with whom you want to view the cam

type in the public ip address in a web browser
type in your public ip address press enter
start viewing web cam by picking one of the listed options that work

    Android webcam server

You can view your camera in several ways:

Open stream in media player, such as VLC
    Use java browser plugin
Use javascript to update frames in browser
Use browser built-in viewer (not supported by all browsers)
(Windows only) Connect to PC for use with Skype and other videochats
Take full-resolution photo (put phone into a silent mode to prevent shutter sound)
    Take immediate photo
    Third-party software support:

    URL for MJPG-compatible software:
URL for software that supports JPEG frames (slower, less secure):
    URL for audio streaming:
    URL for full-resolution photo capture:

can view your cam threw cell phone or PC web browser enjoy !!

now call the person also... so you now have working cam and call you now have working video chat on your HTC - Incredible !!!

this method is only going work off a home router you have access to if you do not have access to a home router anther way to try is:

justin.tv (free app from the market)
    run the app
make a user name & password
run the service by pressing the red button

in a web browser type in

or ustream from the market (can only broadcast live though, can not do other stuff at the same time)

other options (for cell to cell cam) included are
tango app from the market or
knocking live video app from the market
