Is there a trick to sending a video MMS? Nobody I send them to receives them for some reason. I don't get any error messages or anything, but they never receive the message.
I haven't got any for a while either. Not sure if I have missed any or if nobody has tried to send me any...
Anyway, what do I have to do to get working video MMS?

Files might be too big? Other carries have size limits that their customers can receive as well.

Files not too big, for sure. I have sent pictures bigger than some of the videos that nobody ever gets.

So does video MMS work for you? Can you send a video MMS and your friends get it?

I never get any error messages, but nobody ever gets the videos I send...

I really need help with this too. I took a cute video of my 4 year old yesterday and couldn't send it to anyone unless it was through email. What gives? The video was only 9 seconds long, so I know it wasn't too big.

Can anyone please give advice on how to send an MMS video to other cell phones?

9 secs @ 720p is still probably too big for some to receive via MMS. What's the file size of that video?

Carriers place a lot of different limits on picture/video MMS. I just switched to Sprint so I don't know it's limitations yet. But as long-time ex-ATT, I know ATT required: 1) a separate Messaging Package as pic/vid had separate and higher charges than standard text. Sender and receiver must have the package if on ATT. 2) File size was limited to 600kb, which is quite small and not likely something you'd be able to do with 720p video - gotta stick with VGA or lower quality. I think Sprint's file size limitation is 300kb which is really small. There should be an auto-conversion option before sending, but any large file might have problems with downconversion. 3) If message was sent to someone without video receiving capability, the file would be converted to a link to a web file with the video. If the person did not have web browsing, the file just sits on the server.

Not sure if Sprint's much different because I haven't yet tried to send a video.

Okay, just to put this all in perspective...

I used video mms mode to record a short video. When I send this video, nobody ever gets it. I can send it to any carrier- even Sprint customers with Evos, and nobody ever gets it. I never get an error message. The details of the video are...
    Size: 227 KB
    Resolution: 176 x 144
    Bit Rate: 80 Kbps
    Type: Video/3gpp Video/mp4v-es

Can anyone tell me why I can't send video mms?

If you have any friends or relatives with Evo, send to them and see what happens. What's the length of the video? I'm pretty sure the max you can send via Sprint would be about 20-25 seconds given that a 50-second vid at these specs would be just over 500KB. If the vid's 227KB, seems like it should be about 15 seconds???

On the receiver side, video MMS is charged separately on some of the carriers and often has to be enabled on the phone. iPhones have to enable video MMS in the settings (at least up to 3GS, not sure about iP4). If MMS is not enabled, it looks like nothing went through or happened because the receiver is simply not there to be found.

    QVGA resolution 320 X 240

    15 seconds

    front facing camera

    800 kps

i was able to send from the EVO to my pro2. the file was too big to play but it did go thru.

to the OP are your recipients getting this message or are they not receiving any acknowledgment that its been sent to them?

So to answer a few questions...
1: I have tried sending the video to several Evos and they never get it. I also tried sending it to various smartphones on Verizon (xv6700, droid, and some other htc windows mobile phone) as well as a bunch of dumbphones on various carriers.

2: The video is 18 seconds long.

3: The recipient doesn't get any message at all, and I don't get any error message.

well the EVO can send the file and i was able to receive it on my pro2 albeit it was too large. so perhaps its a inter-carrier issue. my phones are on sprint so its easy for a sprint phone to get a message sent from another sprint phone...

    can they receive photo images?

Yes, they can receive photos. I actually have 4 Evos on my account and none of them can send video mms to each other. Sending photos is not a problem though.

Actually, I would be surprised if a lot of people had success with it. I started this same thread on several forums and you're the first (and so far only) person to say it has worked for them...

Try to send a small enough video for the Touch Pro 2 and see if it can actually play it. Interesting that it said it received the first one though. I wonder if a Sprint Touch Pro 2 is somehow different or something so it works...

    size 153KB
    resolution 176 X144
    :12 seconds
    25FPS
    80 Kpbs
    H.263

i was able to play audio and video just fine. interesting that the touch pro2 shows it as being 500K in size.

so ill attempt to send a video from the pro2 to the evo and report back.

    Salt,

what i did on the pro2 was just attached the video i sent from the evo originally and sent to BACK to the EVO from the pro2's native stock messaging app. it took about 5 minutes but the EVO received it in the stock message app and it played just fine.

so im able to send and receive here. you are saying your evo cant get messages from other EVOs and other types of phones correct? well we need one more person who has access to another phone to test on their end.

im using stock messaging apps on both devices and neither are rooted.. all stock.

i attached an image of the stock messaging app that shows the video was sent and received...

I think I can receive videos, just can't send them. At least I think I have recieved videos on the Evo before, not 100% sure...

Mine is rooted so that might have something to do with it...

being rooted may play a part. thats the only difference between my handset and yours at the moment. but you stated other EVO users have reported the same issue. do you know if they are rooted as well?

When I wasnt able to send video I had to call sprint. They were able to see that messages were pending, but weren't sent yet. They reset something in my account and everything started going thru fine. Keep us posted if this works for you. Good luck

Not sure if everyone was rooted or not, but I am guessing that they probably were. I think most people on forums like this are probably the type to root.

Was yours rooted? I don't know if I'd want to call Sprint with my phone being rooted and running a custom ROM. Is that safe to do? I don't want them voiding my warranty or killing the root or anything like that...
