I was just wondering how people play their video files as I cannot find a media player on the Desire. I am currently using a file manager app and then selecting the file, but I would have thought the phone had some kind of standard app installed that would let me browse and play my content

the standard desire video app is 'in' the photos app, you will see a folder called movies in the photos app that contains your movie files, clicking one launches the media player.

I use rockplayerbase as recommended above, its very good but currently only beta and the beta expires tomorrow. (not sure if it will continue working or if there will be a new release.)

realplayer beta is another good one available on the marketplace.

Won't 2.2 negate the need for apps like rockplayer? Doesn't it bring Divx support?

Forgot that, will try it tonight with a Divx file, I did notice a new Video player app in 2.2 last night.

I still use .mp4's via mVideoPlayer.

The next best thing to RockPLayer I have found is YX Flash but that can still be picky.

RockPlayer is the future. Unfortunately as someone has said it looks like it will die tomorrow.

.3GP does work with the standard play and mVideoPlayer, but I couldn't get the Froyo 2.2 Video app to recognise or play my Divx file :(
