In the camcorder application, I have chosen to record the video's in MP4. However, when you then side load them to the PC or what-not they appear as 3GPP or something.

Is 3GPP a version of MP4 or is the camcorder telling fibs?

If it's not, how do I record in plain old MP4?

3gpp is not the same as MP4, you need to convert or play in quicktime (or somesuch). I hadnt noticed that it claims to record in one but doesnt

Yes, these are the two options I get.... with added smudge prints for posterity

I have noticed this, this morning. I thought my videos would be mpeg4, as per the option in the phone, but no they are 3gp. I thought that went out with the ark. I haven't had that on a phone since my old samsung d500, about 5 years ago. Guess I better dig out my old 3gp to mpeg converter programme I brought all those years ago.
