YouTube - TETRAX - XWAY and FIX
Thanks for the great review! I've been searching high and low for a mount solution for my car. I love the tetrax from what I've seen, but unfortunately the vents on my Civic and Odyssey aren't conducive to giving me the best visibility for nav and music. I was thinking of going with the FIX and making a custom set-up using the mount and arm from a universal mount. I was thinking of getting some sort of material and countersinking the FIX mounting point in it so that it's pretty flush and provides good lateral support. Has anyone attempted such a thing?
you are blocking the ac!!
I prefer the m2 car mount
I had that one as well. It was okay, just did not think it was stable enough.
gobluejd, great review. Looks like you have your clip attached to the Seidio Innocase II which I also use. I have the Seidio holster as well, do you think attaching the clip to the back of the case will prevent it from snapping onto the holster?
Not sure what you mean about clip? The small round disk? I do use the Holster but it does not interfere with the clip as the disk faces out. I think this is what you mean?
You're exactly right, I meant the round disk in the back. Wanted to know if putting the adhesive disk onto the back of the Seidio Innocase II would interfere with the case snapping onto the holster. I just didn't want to purchase the Tetrax only to make my Innocase holster irrelevant.
Is that the same setup you have?
It does not interfere at all. The disk is on the back of the case, and the screen faces into the holster.
gobluejd, we've spoken before on the CX-9 forum.
Question, do you think you could attach a Tetrax FIX to a Soundgate m2 to get the best of both worlds?
Yes. Someone has done this.
Really?!? I always thought the screen faces outward when docked into the holster. I've new tried it both ways, it does seem to fit more snug with screen facing inward.
I use the Innocase II and Holster (as a holster, not a dock). When the CASE is in the HOLSTER the screen faces in and the back of the phone (case with disk) faces outward.
Not sure what you mean by "dock".
Can I assume that applies to the Innocase Active also?
Yes. However the holster for the Active is different for the one for the Innocase (active is a little bigger).
I bought one of these last week after seeing your comments in the Car Dock Discussion Thread. It was a bit pricey, but well worth it IMO. I absolutely love it. The only thing I do not like is that my rubber case slides around now because of the disc on the back, but its not a deal breaker by any means.
Tip: when mounting the disc on the phone, be sure to place it a bit above center, that way when the phone is laying flat on a table it will be slanted towards you rather than away.
Curious, does the metal disc that adheres to the back of the phone come with the XWAY? Or do you have to purchase it separately?
It comes with several (different sizes).
$35 on amazon, no way! I liked it a lot but it is tooooo expensive for $35
Just recieved mine yesterday, for those of you who already use it, which of the 4 disks did you use? Thanks.
I used the larger (without silicon).
Prolly the BEST 35.00 I am gonna spend on this Phone. I love it.
now I used the next to smallest disk and although it looks ok on my case i was thinking maybe i should have used the smallest disk. gobluejd you think the bigger the disk the better the grab.? not that it will fall off but I do want it stable while im driving.
why did you use the bigger disk.
anyway. ill need one of these for the wifes car..
Actually I am currently using the small on both my naked extend and my seidio. The first case I put it on was the vzw gel. I just said the larger one as probably adds more stability. But I can assure you the smaller one is holding up just fine.
