Visual Voicemail Update.

I just received a mandatory update for my Visual Voicemail app. It downloaded and installed without a problem. I think I had read about this update somewhere a few days ago. It kept on shilling an add-on service from Sprint for voicemail to text transcription service.

I do not mind being asked once about a service because I can just decline. However, this advertisement insists on on rearing its ugly head every time you restart your handset and go to use the Visual Voicemail app again.

I am familiar with the word mandatory. Haha.

I was not complaining about that. I was talking about the nag screen you get randomly about subscribing to the voice to text transcription service that Sprint is offering with its Visual Voicemail app now, which costs extra of course.

I got the update the other day. I also saw the ad a handful of times. It goes away. All is well again.

I rebooted my Sprint HTC Hero and it came back again. It would be lame if it kept doing this for as long as I owned my handset.

If it does eventually stop, I will be happy. We shall see.

You can get the transcription service for free by using Google Voice for your voicemail instead of Sprint.
