Voice dialer unusableSupport

Captivate 2.2 on Rogers in Canada.

Just lost my original post so here is the condensed version.

The Voice dialer is pretty much useless. It barely works even when talking directly at it and refuses to work with my BlueAnt S4 or other hands-free devices. It barely dials numbers and refuses to call names or launch applications like "open calendar" which is one of the examples.

All my search attempts find discussions from 2008-2009 hoping for the next release of Android.

Is anyone having any luck with this functionality?

    Thanks.

After banging on it for a while, I finally found some success. I was trying to call myself but due to some odd syncing, I appeared twice in the contacts list, once with my phone number and email addresses and once with just my email addresses. I removed the listing with just my email addresses and the phone now recognizes my name.

Now, I can long-push the search button and say "call [my name], home" and it actually dials my home listing :). I don't know how well it works in a loud environment yet.

    Thank you Gadlen.

When you said "long-push the search button" you got me thinking. Pressing said button launches the Voice Search app. But pressing the function button on my BlueAnt launches the Voice Dialler app. The Voice Search is much better at recognizing commands and names and displays the volume of your voice input so that you know it's working.

I assume they are moving away from the Voice Dialler. I just need to figure out if I can configure my BlueAnt now...

    Thanks!
