stupid question, but is there anyway to see when I get a voice mail on the Desire?

I get notifications of a missed call, but not everyone leaves a voicemail, I cant see any way of telling if I have voicemail other than calling the voicemail number and listening to it. I dont get voicemail notifications?

is there a handy app maybe?

Im on O2 uk, running 2.2.

    cheers

To be honest, I use a 3rd party voicemail service HulloMail, instead of O2.

Its visual voicemail so it has an app and it lists voicemails in the app and you click them and it plays them. It even tmatches the mail to a contact. It actually sends through GMAIL.

Although teh notifications are a bit dodgy, you can set from the website for an SMS alert to be sent when you receive a voicemail.

Of course, it is data reliant though. I love it. You have to deactivate the O2 service (Dial 1750 [1760 reactivates]) and activate HulloMail ina similar way (put a code in dialler.)

The Icon shows up beside the missed call. Drag down the notification box and it will say voicemail. Tap the notification to call.

thats what I mean, for some reason I havent gotten the notification described above for voicemail at all for the 4 voicemails I have received since I bought the Desire.

Thanks Danfrance, I may try that.

    interesting,

I just dialed 1750 and got a voice saying welcome to O2 voicemail, thankyou for enabling voicemail and that I will now receive notifications when I receive one...

so maybe I dont need an app or alternative anymore...lol
