I just called in on a whim and the CSR said the extended is available now. He said it was 1800 (or so, I don't exactly remember) mah and it costs 49.99. It comes with a battery cover, which means it's thicker.

I'll stick this thread for a day or two just to let folks know.

    Your friendly neighborhood phone guide,

    Steven

That is only ~17% increase with the extended. So if you are getting say 14 hours it would be 16. I would go with a second standard and not have to worry about a new case as well as how it would affect the shape of the phone.

17% maybe a lot for those whom are only getting 6 hours at this time like myself. :( I could only wish my phone was lasting 14 hours.

That pushes you to 7 hours. But if you are only getting that sounds like a battery problem. I am at 17 hours right now and 50%. And that was with setting up some apps from my root today including tethering and checking to make sure it was working and staying up for about an hour. streaming music for about 2 hours. Surfing for an hour or 2. DL 5-6 apps doing some star charting. As well as the standard texting and email stuff.

I'll wait for the Seidio 3500mah extended battery. I dont mind the size increase as long as my phone lasts me a full day compared to the 1/2 day I get now.

I hate adding thickness to a phone even if it is for extended battery life. I have my wall charger and car charger....my life only seems to be getting better. If I were to get anything additional, I'd just grab an extra battery personally. But thanks for letting us know this is available :)

Thank you for figuring out the math for me. You are spot on. I don't need the 17 percent more. I need the extra battery... I'm not going to make my phone look pregnant! ;)

But then you will need a charger for your battery, don't you?

I just don't understand with all of the new technology out now, why can't they make a great battery that is as slim as the standard battery but last even longer.

I believe you. In fact, I was surprised myself, but the CSR said it was and I was about to clear the order, but I thought better of it wanting to get the regular one as a backup, instead.

I want the extended battery but I will wait until august just to see if Seidio puts one out (doubt it) by then.

    17% is 17%.

Until then I will live with the battery life i have now which isn't too bad considering I am a heavy user.

How long does it take the X to reboot? I'm currently using a BB Storm 2 and sick to death of 10+ minute reboots. I had the original Droid for a few days and reboot on that was very fast, less than a minute.

Coming from a Storm (1 or 2) the X's bootup should be pretty damn quick. Than again, I believe the more you may have installed to to its internal storage, the longer it may take to boot (similar to a PC's HDD).

Obviously I don't have the new battery at the moment, but pre-launpre-launch they mentioned it was only 1mm thicker than the standard one. For me, it may be worth a try since my battery barely lasts the day with pretty light useage.

Just called Verizon, no dice. Extended battery not in stock. But honestly, I don't think I need one, battery life been great so far. Unplug at 4-5 am and last all day till 10-11 pm with 10-15% left

Is there a decent charger for the 2nd battery? Or do you guys swap batteries and charge them in the phone. (I'm asking assuming you still want to take both batteries along rather than simply rely on the one in the phone).

    Thanks,

I will will wait to see what the extended battery covers look like. I think I would prefer a second regular battery with a standalone charger. If the extended one only makes the phone 1mm thicker, then I still get a second battery but one lasts longer than the other. Would still want a standalone charger either way though.
