Hey guys. I want to get one of these bad boys and upgrade from my trusty HTC Hero.

I love the Sense UI and hate other UI's but I know I can use launcher pro etc so I am not to bothered about Touch Wiz...

What I wanted to know is...

Is the SuperAMOLED exclusive to Samsung mobile till next year ? (as they make it obviously..but are they going to 'lease' this tech to others companies now or next year?).

I read this somewhere and wanted this confirmed as I don't want HTC to launch an SuperAMOLED if I purchase the Galaxy because I'd rather have the HTC...
I don't mind if HTC build a phone in Europe with better specs than the Galaxy S but I'd be annoyed if it had the SuperAMOLED + better specs if you see what I mean..

Will I be 'safe' for a year with the Galaxy S SuperAMOLED.. ?

    thanks..

also any cons you have noticed?

    Sorry yeah Typo.

But is this exclusive to Samsung Mobiles for 1 whole year before they sell it / lease it to other manufacturers or will they do this right now?

Also I do a lot of reading / web browsing on my phone but I read that the text is not as clear as it should/could be...

is this true? is reading from the phone difficult? is text blurry?

No doubt super amoled is quite beautiful. It is one of the best displays I've seen for a while or ever.

There is some feathering when zoomed out. But whether this is a problem, I'm not sure. Seems ok for me. I just think its a better and bigger screen which shows imperfections more clearly, like pixelisation on digital tv on bigget screens.

Just make sure the hardware had no defects.

Rumour has it that There is some different firmware for the galaxy which resolves the issue. Think it is baseband version xxjf5 instead of xxjf3 which I have on mine.

Though suggestions are the different baseband versions may be for different countries

I answered you about the firmware in another thread but now I see you already knew that. It does seem like they are still tweaking it since the XXJF5 was renamed to XXJFB. As said I have heard people that previously had problems say that they have experienced better GPS coverage and no lag after the firmware flash.

The XXJFB is for the European version. The Asian and African firmwares are not named 'XX'.

I presume there is no official update as yet? Where are all these firmware updates from then? Leaks?

I would guess they are leaks, yes. Hopefully it means they are very close to finish the upgrade as we have been promised to get it during the summer, before the Android 2.2 upgrade.
