    Hey everyone,

I want to order an Incredible for my girlfriend from Wirefly/Sears Wireless or Amazon. She wants to transfer the upgrade from her dad's line (they're on a family plan) to her number, but whenever we try to do that on the Verizon website it doesn't stick.

Is there a way to permanently transfer the upgrade to her number? Otherwise, could I order the Incredible under her dad's number, and then activate it with her number once we get it? I've heard mixed answers as to whether or not Wirefly/Sears Wireless will charge an ETF for this action.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I think what you'll need to do is order it under the phone that has an upgrade's number. When it comes, dial *228 and enter the phone with the upgrade's number to accept the contract changes. After that, redial *228 and activate it with the number you want it to work on.

What if I activated online through Verizon's website? And do you know if Wirefly/Sears Wireless would charge an ETF for doing this?

Wirefly will charge the card you used to order the device a $300 ETF fee if you deactivate the device from the line within 181 days. You'll have to order direct from Verizon if you are wanting to transfer the upgrade or switch after activating.

    From the WireFly TOS

Please note some of the reasons your wireless carrier may notify us of a deactivation include if:

-You transfer this equipment to another carrier line of service after it is activated

-You change your rate plan to a lower monthly service rate than was specifically required at the point of purchase

-You deactivate texting/data features that were specifically required at the point of purchase

-The new line of service activated with your order is used to replace a pre-existing account

Damn, alright thanks. Do you know of any way I can get around paying $200 for the Incredible directly from Verizon? Or is that my only option?

CPO is only $99 and the new ones just dropped to $149. If her dad is a VIP or has any corporate discounts he may be able to get another $50 off of that. Thats it off the top of my head. Good Luck!

I JUST ordered from WireFly and gave them my number to use and they said that when I get it, I would follow the instructions to activate from WireFly, NOT from Verizon.

So what I'm saying, whatever number you give WireFly is the number you will upgrade and activate it to.

I did something similar at Best Buy when I got my Inc. I used an upgrade that was available on my family plan. I activated the Inc on other line, deactivated my Eris, had them transfer the Inc to my line and then reactivate the phone that was originally on the line I used the upgrade on. All in all I was charged an extra $0.17 for the few minutes that there was a second data plan activated on my account. This way I was able to get the Inc for free ("Free Phone Friday") and keep my NE2 upgrade at Verizon which I could go use tomorrow if I wanted. There's usually ways around fine print, you just need to be slick and know what you're doing :) Good luck with the phone, I hope everything works out for you

Just so I am clear....You activated the new phone on the line with the upgrade....deactivated the phone on your line....then transferred the new phone to your line and then activated the original phone that was on the upgrade line?

I understand that this worked with Best Buy...but the question is, will it work with Wirefly? They've instituted a "new" caveat whereby they automatically activate the new phone on the upgrade line on the expected shipment date.

No. It won't work with Wirefly, unless they've dropped their contract rider stating you can't move the phone to a different line on the account without paying them a fee.
