Support Want to use Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 as phone

    I am in the market for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. It would be the 4G Verizon version. But before I buy it, I want to make sure I can use it as a phone, as in receive and send text messages, and make/receive calls.

    Does anyone know if this is possible?

    Also, if I take it to Europe, would I be able to use it there? Will it take a Euro SIM card? Is it unlockable?

    I am surprised no one has answered this question sooner. I don't think the Verizon version of the 7.7 can make phone calls. It will only get you data, whether through Verizon's towers or through a wifi connection. In order to make phone calls you need the unlocked international version (GSM). This tablet is what I have and it works quite well as a speaker phone. In the USA the GSM cell providers at T-Mobile and AT&T but it makes it much easier when traveling to Europe where you can put in a Euro SIM card.
