Water damaged my Note 3... Should I get a Nexus 5?

So, I got pushed in a pool with my Note 3 and fixed it for a moment but now my screen is just black. It would be $200 to fix the LCD screen but I'm a bit wary of using a water damaged phone in the long-run.

Someone on Craigslist is going to sell me his Nexus 5 for $250 which is a great deal. Should I hop on this deal? Or pay the $200 to fix my Note 3 screen and use that instead?

Nexus has the software, Samsung has the hardware. What's your preference?

To me, current software is more important than all the BS Samsung phones have that you don't need or will ever use.

Haha I admit I never used most of the software on the Note 3. Never used the S Pen either... but that's not to say it's not a great phone too. For the value... Nexus 5 wins all day though.

Make sure you meet at a carrier store and have the MEID checked before you purchage, especially off of Craigslist. You don't want to wind up with a stolen or otherwise inoperable phone because it is blacklisted.

The nexus 5 has really great hardware too, especially when you consider the price.

The only problem most people reference is the camera software, but thats gotten better and better with each OTA, and we should be getting another one here shortly.

While not the same phone, i jumped from the og galaxy note to the nexus 4 and didnt miss any of the so called great features and instantly loved the stock/vanilla android experience.

I say go for it!

Got a Nexus 5 for $250 with the box and a case. He met me at a T-Mobile store and I got it all activated and set up.

Pretty good deal considering it retails at $349!

You couldn't have been sure that it was only the screen on your Note 3 that needed fixing/replacing anyway.

Congrats! One of the Best all around Android phones you can get, and you won't have to worry about waiting around for updates or dealing with software hangups or bogginess that may exist in touchwiz.
