I`ve used Weatherbug lite for a couple of months now with no problems. I upgrade to the Elite app last week which I like a lot.

This morning when checking my phone I found it had downloaded 225mb of data overnight and checking the usage its Weatherbug at fault.

I killed the app as it was still constantly downloading. On restarting the usage was zero.

Has anyone else had this ? It could be just a one off but I`ve `lost` a large percentage of my internet allocation & am scared of it happening again.

I normally leave background data on, but have Juice Defender installed so I can swith the APN off overnight.

    Any views guys ?

when I saw how much data the phone had used overnight with 3g watchdog, I looked in systempanel lite - this shows how much each app has tasked the CPU. whilst in system panel it was showing network download usage as high. I quickly killed weatherbug and the usage dropped to zero. just to confirm I entered *#*#4636#*#* and checked network usage since last reboot. sure enough weatherbug had used 95% of all use !

I am probably one of the few that did not mind paying Sprint $10 extra a month for truly unlimited data even though I am not (yet) in a 4G area (coming soon to Boston). While I never even came close to the unwritten 5GB cap, it is nice not to have to worry about data usage. I only tethered prior phones to make sure I could do so in an emergency, but if I did need to tether, 5Gb could be used very quickly. Anyway, I just installed WeatherBug elite yesterday as I was looking for a weather program that would give me the weather at places other than my current location which seems pretty pointless as one can just look out the window. I also wanted one that would give me the report from a weather station nearby, rather than just large worldwide cities like Timbuctoo. I noticed you can set the update interval in WeatherBug Elite. I left mine at the default one hour, but you could try changing it to ever 4 or 6 which should reduce usage.

I know this works for the desire so I'm not sure if it works on all handsets. enter the code as if you were dialling a phone no. the screen will then change to give you options to view various info. if you select battery history and then CPU usage or network usage and give the program a few seconds to refresh it can show you some interesting data. I hope this is useful - as I said I don't know if this works for all android phones. hopefully this will work !

CPU info came up, but nothing came up when I did network usage.

CPU wasn't out of line for Weatherbug Elite though.

What's funny, is, since downloading new update and changing the live wall paper to a dark background map, (from a brighter still photo of my son), my battery seems to be doing better - and my phone has been unplugged 21h 10m, with moderate app use and web surfing.

Granted, it has been on WiFi the entire time. Not sure why it's showing an awake time of 11 hours. I haven't turned it off...?

Also not sure why it's reporting the TV Guide app as much as it is... lol I used it for like 3 minutes and hit Exit when I quit.

Yeah, new WeatherBug Elite is pretty slick with the animated Live Wallpaper weather maps. Get occasional Force Close, but I'm sure they'll fix in time.

That's the standard HTC EVO clock.. just add clock widget and scroll to the right :) If they'd add the date and/or time to the WB Elite 3 Day widget, I'd be set.

I really think the darker screens do a lot to save battery life.
