Well I just Picked up Handset #5 just exchanged on the 25th from Sprint Service and was told its not repairable and will not except any updates OTA or hard wired and a beautiful refurbished Epic was ordered and on its way. I even tried to get Best Buy to take it back and they flat out refused because its 4 days out of the return policy. The refurb should be here in a few days oh joy! I guess I also lose my $20 Zagg screen protector too! joy again! Thanks Samsung!

On the bright side, it probably doesn't need a screen protector.. or all that wetness.. Good luck with the refurb though. Whenever I feel like my luck is crap, I read your posts. :p

Yes really im staying out of the Casinos thats for sure. Once I get the refurb I think im going to just sell it and go back to my EVO. I really don't think I can deal with owning a refurb. not after all the crap thats happened with this Epic. Im done with Samsung and I refuse to use there refurbished junk.

Contact ZAGG. If you send in your old screen protector, they will send you a new one.

My son busted his Moment and we exchanged it for a refurb. The thing is perfect and looks brand-spankin'-new. Going on 2 months with the refurb and not a single issue or problem.

Because it is part of their policy and in their interest.

That said I would not get a protector on Epic.

I wouldn't mind a refurb at all if it solved my keyboard input issue that has occurred on every epic I've owned.

zagg tried to deny a warranty claim for my evo screen only protector & was attempting to charge me 34 bux .... it was cleared up but a p.i.t.a either way

Did you ever stop to think it's too soon to have refurbs available and you'll probably get a brand new one? I cracked my gorilla glass screen the other week and got a brand new in the box one. Nice thing was I only had to send the phone back so I have double all the accessories, including the battery.

It could still be a new one. Did you check the refurb status under options?

Options where? Though I'm not overly concerned. Probably giving this one to a rep and ordering hers for myself. If I choose to sell it, then I can sell it as new.

From the phone key pad on the EVO key in ##786# Let the list come up then scroll down to "reconditioned status" If there is a date there its a refurb. if it says <not available> its a new service unit. Also make sure the screen is seated properly and level all around.

actually, they put stickers on the back of the phone now that give the refurb date which matches up with the reconditioned date on the phone. no biggie. has a whopping 131 minutes on it. I'm definitely handing it off to the rep. Might not get another Evo though. Might just leave her line open and see what webOS or WP7 bring to the table in the coming months.
