idk why but my phone just started freaking out today with the 2.2 leaked version on it. the leaked version hasn't gave me any problems really since day 1. the only reason i went back to 2.1 is because i want the official update in these next couple of weeks.

i was just gonna say that it gave me a lot of trouble just to get it back to 2.1 with trying to get back all my apps/data, and yes i back-up/restored it all with my back up pro and it still was acting super weird when everything was good.

im just letting you people know that if you do decide to downgrade just be careful because you might be getting yourself in to a world of headaches ;)

Id assume you werent rooted and that's why you didn't use titanium backup?

It's funny, but switching back to 2.1 was super easy for me.

SMS Backup/Restore backed up my text messages to my SD card. LauncherPro backed up my launcher settings. My emails, contacts, calendars, task lists and notes all exist in the cloud. Dolphin backed up my bookmarks ('scuse me, Google, why do we not have native bookmark sync?).

Probably, start to finish, from beginning to make my backups through flashing and finishing at restoring my backups, took less than 45 minutes - and half of that was spent waiting for the flash to finish.

Not that it helps you, just expressing to some users out there who might get scared that it often goes really easily, too.

Can I backup w/ Titanium Backup in 2.2, downgrade to 2.1 and restore my applications, data, etc.?

I've done it a few (5-6) times and from the time I hit the start button on RSDLite until my phone is set back up with rooted, overclocked, 2.1 with all apps installed it is about 25-30 minutes. It's one of those things where the first time definitely takes longer than the next time you try it.

I think the answer is YES, now I would just like to ask is there a "FAQ" or simple tutorial for using Titanium Backup to backup/restore everything but system? For some reason I seem to get lost init and not sure I am properly selecting the option(s) to accomplish this.

My leaked 2.2 X freaked out yesterday too. I had to reboot it three times to be able to use it again.

When you open TiBu select menu then "batch" then seleect RUN Backup all user apps. I'd skip the system data, people seem to encounter problems when backing up and restoring system data.

What fixed that for me was renaming the .sbf file to dx.sbf

    Weird but it worked.:D

do you have the proper motorola drivers installed? RDSlite version? I used 7. The .ini file placed in the correct folder? Do you see your phone in row 1? Pick on the info in row 1 and more info will display in the upper left box. then START. Also watch the video. Its is super poor quality but you will get a better idea of what you need to be doing. The only issue I had was using my vista laptop. I moved to the win7 laptop and shazzam.

Then I assume you have to set a schedule to run it. This is/was the part I think I was screwing up, instead I was going back into the menu options under {More} and creating that 'update.zip' which only took like 5 sec.s to create and seemingly didn't seem like it was the complete b/u.

my regress back to 2.1 was easy as well. More interesting is why the X's with 2.2 are freaking out. I would be real interested to know more about that. Are you saying that the phone WITH 2.1 re-stalled is freaking out, or did it freak out WITH 2.2 and that's why you went back?

    Interesting......

Just press RUN, next to backup user apps, and it backs up all of your apps right then.

More importantly, what the hell does "freaking out" mean?

It's like when someone says their computer is "broken." What does that mean? It doesn't turn on? It doesn't do something you want it to do? Is there an error?

Maybe... and this is merely thinking outside the box, this is an indication that the leaked Froyo was a development version with an expiration date built into it. I've seen other vendors do that with their software so maybe Google added a similar function into Android?

I've been maintaining that all along.

With prelim Windows versions they don't recommend upgrading that to the final version. IMO, it should be rolled back to 2.1 and upgrade that to 2.2 or there will be little issues here and there that will persist.
