I'm jumping off the Verizon boat and will be joining sprint next month with the release of this phone. What data plan will everybody be choosing when they get it?

If you're going for an unlocked phone w/o data plan, why?

PS - I did a search for this topic and nothing came up. Sorry if it's a repost.

If you go Sprint I'd go with:

Everything Data - with Any Mobile, AnytimeSM

    Link: Sprint - Define Region

You really can't beat these prices.

Sprint isn't like T-Mobile with cheaper plans for "unlocked" or unsubsidized phones. Essentially the normal non-promotional plans are

    Individual:

    $70/90/100

    for 450/900/unlimited weekday landline minutes

    Family:

    $130/170/190

    for 1500/3000/unlimited weekday landline minutes

All of these plans feature free calls after 7pm, free calls on weekends, free calls to cell phones, unlimited data, unlimited text, unlimited turn-by-turn navigation through Telenav (Sprint Navigation)

    Simple Everything 450 Minute plan.

The minutes are more than I'll ever need.

The $70 unlimited everything (essentially) plan is definitely the best around.

To get the EVO you basically have to get one of the everything data plans, I have the everything data 1500 family plan with 4 lines, so i'm covered.

Im going to be leaving my unlimited incoming plan and get the basic 450 min plan. After my discounts are factored in with tax, i will probably pay a extra $12 more than i pay now at $30.

Probably start with the 69.99 Everything Data plan and let my wife play with my phone a little. If she loves it too, then we'll switch over to the family plan.

I'll be keeping my Everything Data 450 plan. This month alone I've used all of 46 mins total. I call mostly other cell phones whether it's during the day or not. No need to change plans for me.

Going to be on the family plan 1500 (possibly 3,000, have to see how it goes), with 5 people and a 20% off corporate discount.

thats the same one i have used for a while, and now that ALL mobile to mobile is free (not just w/ in the sprint network) and almost everyone i call is on a cell i basically use hardly any mins per month, and i still fall into the sprint premiere category to get those benifits

SimplyEverything Unlimited Family (2 lines). I don't like tracking call minutes, and my two home lines transfer to my mobile 100% of the time so I don't miss calls. I probably use my mobile phone 95% of the time. My wife uses less minutes, but the cost of an individual plan plus the other SE Data Unlimited plans is $10 or $20 less per month but needlessly bring tracking for my wife back into the picture.

I think people like me at ATT and VZW have been waiting for a difference-making phone as a reason to jump to Sprint so now the plans will actually shine. It's impossible to get this "unlimited" value on ATT & VZW and the coverage on TMo so Sprint should be pushing the plans as much as the phones now more than ever.

Me: Simply Everything Plan, because my company pays the bill.

The Wife: Everything Data 900, because she talks alot...(although she used to be a TimeWarner employee, so we get a 25% discount)

Will I be able to keep my OLD sprint data plan, even if I pay full retail price?
    Anyone done that?

I don't believe you can keep your old Free&Clear with $10-15 unlimited data or whatever the old one was. With the focus on data and messaging, they rearranged their tiers to be profitable as well as competitive for the customers. For better or worse, you will need one of the plans I posted earlier in the thread to get this phone. They use new phones as an incentive to move to the newer pricing structure. I held off for a while because I didn't need much in the way of voice and a $30 plan with $15 data and $10 text package was cheaper than the $70 everything/450 plan. Still, I figured I wanted the phone enough and it was still cheaper than the competition so I went for it.

Now I split a share 1500 plan with my girlfriend for around $125 after discounts and taxes. $60-65 each is still pretty damn competitive IMO.

Thanks all for the info and advice.
My plan is called "Fair & Flex Family" plan and I have unlimited Data add-on to my phone only, not the other 2 (3 total).

To upgrade to "Everything Data Family - 1500", I will be paying 45 extra per month, but of course will get all the unlimited data / Nav / text / TV.. on all 3 phones - not just one.

I had Treo 650 > Treo 755p > Treo Pro..... about time to upgrade. ;)

yeah, the add on date type plans they wont let you use for the newer smart phones, the older treos dont use the data connection very often compaired to the newer smart phones and basically using the data connection for most of what you do on it
