What did I install to start getting spam?

I downloaded some app, I can't figure out what, that is now pulling ads and putting them into my notification bar every day. How do I track down what it was? What am I looking for? I'm guessing it was a theme but can't id it. Thanks for any suggestions.

Droid x stock rom, etc. GO EX installed.

Try something like this. Never used it, but you can use it to detect what's causing the ads, then use another app to block or uninstall them.

that app should detect what you have installed. Most common app is an MP3 downloader.
