    It's fine.

Speaker power and quality is very dependent on size, I don't need nor expect my phone to produce air horn decibel levels nor Shure-level quality.

I posted something similar a few days back and I agree.

After talking to a very nice verizon customer service rep about my "Backup Assistant" password not working, I mentioned to her that I thought the speaker volume was pretty low. She said that this is not currently a known issue to them, but that she'd pass it on to HTC.

In a way, I'm glad that you noticed it and I hope more people mention it, only because that means that I don't have a dud and that there may be fixes and workarounds coming out for this issue. All of my previous LG flip phones have been as loud on "medium" as the DI is on full (for regular, non-music ringtones).

With that said, I transferred over my favorite ringtone from my LG Env2 to the Incredible, and at almost full ringer volume, it seems loud enough, though it doesn't have any reserve volume up top.

One workaround I've used before: cut an mp3 ringtone to a short length and bitrate appropriate for ringtones, and use a program like mp3-gain to make it louder before putting in on the phone.

A LOT louder than I expected. Much improved over my buddy's N1.
