Has anything ever been mentioned about a possible EVO 2? Do we think there will be one? Other than the Droid 2 I can't recall any direct "sequels" to Android phones. But considering this was Sprints first big time Android phone and first Wimax phone do you think there will be one to bank on the name of their most successful phone to date? I really like the form factor and other features such as the kickstand which we aren't seeing on any other phones yet. I know there will be some great Android options to choose from on Sprint but would lbe nice if Sprint and HTC came out with a more powerful version come upgrade time. I assume that if it's going to happen the plans are already laid.

I could see maybe a "PRO" version with a physical keyboard but that's pretty much it I think. You can't really mess with perfection!

Evo 2 in my mind will have a dual core, Superamoled screen, lighter, and better battery life. My dream :)

In a year it won't be perfection, it will be beautiful but underpowered.

My hope is for an ALL white version. Dual Core Snapdragon, Super AMOLED + higher resolution, better battery life, gig of RAM, 16gb internal storage, no fps cap of course, better hd camcorder, LED notification light that can change to multiple colors and stays on past five minutes, power button that sticks out more and is in the middle(or better yet on the side), and hard camera button.

Course I'm really just asking if we think there will actually be an EVO 2 at all.

Ha, after I typed out all-white, the thought of a clear version also popped into my head.

Don't forget the embedded pico projector and DLNA and 128 GB standard, with EDVO, GSM, WiMAX and LTE (yeah - I like to roam everywhere).

Give me that stuff in addition to the list you guys have (uh, skip the physical keyboard, thx) and I'll be pretty happy.

Actually, by the time you read this you'll notice that there's a rumor on the web that that describes the EVO 3 or later but they're going to use a different name because EVO 3 4G sounds funny and is confusing. So the EVO 2 is really going to be called the BEVO 4G and the one I'm describing is going to be called the FEVO 4G - we'll have to see what the C and D revisions will bring, but I hear the D version will be totally retro.

Oh - the lithium air batteries are coming, so you can forget being underpowered.

PS - Here's the link to the rumor site - FEVO 4G Coming Soon!

I think its been popular enough for it to see a improved version. other sprint phones rumor and rumor 2, instinct and instinct s30 and instinct hd. blackberry curves (think there was a couple of versions not sure, probably many more. so I don't see why not, unless they come up with something so much better there is no need. and if so I am sure the plans are in the works or at least looking at design possibilities for it.

my wants - dual core, 2gigs of ram (yeah that's right 2 gigs) bigger battery(or much improved), oh and how about dual kickstands so I won't knock it over while web surfing while eating my lunch .. lol

and lose the camera lens that sticks out like a big red sore thumb :p

Thanks. The rumor of the D version being totally retro was my favorite.

Agree. Neither LTE nor WiMAX are considered 4G by the ITU - in fact they won't be announcing candidate acceptance of what IS 4G until October of this year.

So meanwhile, 4G is just a more descriptive marketing term that WiMAX.

Personally, my vote is for 5G, and maybe even add a Z in there because that worked for Datsun and is even edgier and further out than the letter X.

    BEVO Z5G - FEVO Z5G Mk II

    Yeah. Oh yeah.

As for the kickstand, just putting it in the middle would probably help stability(or not?) but then we'd have really bad battery life because there'd be no spot for the battery!

OK - I got it, a way to satisfy us both - with form following function:

    Actually - that's very solvable.

Imagine if the kickstand were shaped like a backwards letter L - now rotate its placement so it runs along the starboard and bottom side of the phone.

In such a case, the kickstand would then work in portrait and landscape and never impede the battery.

You could even make it articulate or telescope, just a tiny bit, leading to:

The BEVO Z5G - HTC Introduces the World's First SmartPhone with Optical Zoom Camera AND Enhanced Kickstand!

Company officials explain the features are uniquely wedded to bring the first Android phone with built-in timer for the new camera! Does this mean the days of holding your phone at arms length to take snaps of you and a friend have come to an end? More after the break!

    +1 with a bullet!

Hey - great minds think alike. :D

But seriously whether it's with the L or T stand, doesn't matter - we need this:

HTC BEVO Z5G - Company Announces Dual Batteries

In a move that shocked the Android community, HTC's Biff Barkley explains, "While others have been rushing dual-core phones to the market without sufficient forethought, HTC's exclusive R&D Team, code-named AF, have come up with the last power solution you'll ever need - dual batteries."

Biff went on to demonstrate that batteries have a simple, spring-loaded pop-out mechanism so that the batteries slot-load from each side without any need to remove a back cover - in fact, we're told that the new BEVO Z5G has no back cover.

When asked if this were merely a marketing gimmick, Biff explained, "ABSOLUTELY NOT! The new BEVO Z5G is the first phone ever that allows you to hot-swap a battery. A user can replace the left battery while on a call with the phone fully powered by the right battery. And we're including a thrid battery with shipment." Furthermore, Biff added, "And the days of the dumb battery are over. Each battery has its own separate super-micro-USB connector - they attach directly to any PC to charge, no other accessories needed!"

Skeptical, we asked Biff how it would be possible for HTC and Sprint to offer so much advanced technology without the slightest price change whatsoever.

Reading from a press release, Biff answered, "HTC and Sprint have realized that it was only a matter of time before people began to notice that an 8 GB iPod Touch only costs $199 - and so far, from a purely functional point of view, all we've done is add a few radio chips and a free software core and somehow jacked the retail price up another $400. We thought we'd better pony up something on the hardware side before a popular uprising led to the revolution where we execs were all taken to the balcony, never to be heard from again."
