What does this option do? It seems like if you turn 4G on, then it will search for a signal on its own. If 4G is off, then I would guess this option doesn't even work. So what does it do that simply turning on 4G doesn't already do?

When checked and 4G is turned on, I'm assuming it will show something like "4G Network Available" in the Notification area and fire off a system sound if you have one set and connect to the network. Otherwise, it just connects without notifying you.

So it's literally just a notification and doesn't have anything to do with actually connecting to the 4G network?

Correct. The 4G network works like 3G and connects automatically if the radio is on.

Thanks! I guess the notification is there for anyone who leaves 4G on all day and manages to slip onto the 4G network at some point. Not sure I'd want to just leave it on all day without a strong signal though! :)
