Trying to get a gauge for what kind of users are frequenting these forums. If you feel none of these categories apply, please pick the closest description and then post where you really stand.

Don't take the "rooted" wording literally. If you think you have the chops to root, but have chosen not to, that poll option is still valid for you.

The last 2 options deserve clarification:

a "conservative user" can be someone who is proficient with all the functionality of the phone. They are familiar with the market and download apps. But they don't necessarily care if they have the latest and greatest version of Android, or whether their linpack score is high.

a "tech shy" person is someone who hasn't grasped the basic capabilities of the phone, e.g. widgets, home screens, and perhaps isn't sure how to install/uninstall apps. I doubt many people fall into this category, but they are definitely out there.

I'm pretty savy, but I have no interest in rooting. I have too many problems with phones in the past to bother with it, at least not until the warranty is up. Also, the phone does enough for me already, haven't seen too many things I really want to justify the root.

I would like ShootMe, but not enough to bother.

    Categories are kind of 1) you're a rooter or 2) you're a noob.

I use my evo for music, movies, gps, internet, games, video chat, phone calls, photos/light photo editing, etc. I keep informed about new apps, OS updates, benchmarks, XDA stuff, etc. But I never bothered to root. I don't even have an interest in rooting right now. What does that make me?

I marked power user because there was no category for High-tech Low-life.

great feedback. It's too bad I can't edit the poll. Maybe I'll recreate it.

You are tech savvy for sure. So the flaw in my poll is that rooting is not entirely a reflection of technical expertise. Some people simply don't need it or choose not to for warranty issues, etc. If the option says "rooted," you can read it as, "I could root my phone anytime but choose not to."

I am a techie. But I am not interested in rooting the phone or playing with custom ROMs. It is because mobile device is not the bread-n-butter skill and knowledge that pay my bills. So I don't have that kind of spare time to troubleshoot problem. :)
